Playing with one Gamertag on two consoles at the same time.

Xbox 360 can't use games at the same time on 2 consoles with the same gamertag unless one of the consoles is offline, same thing can be done with the Xbox one/series you can also create his own gamertag, but sharing features only works on 2 consoles at the same time, you will need a second suscription

This is a tricky one. You can have the game on two consoles at the same time. However, the one that is not set as your Home console will require your gamertag to be logged in so others can play the game.

The other issue with this is that two people cannot play the game at the same time. Only one would be able to play the game on one console.

Small addition. A profile can only be online at one same generation console at the same time.

So in order to play at the same time on the same generation console, you will need to have two seperate gamertags.

Just a bit of clarification on how many Xbox One consoles can have gold from one gamertag. Only two console can give gold benefits to all other users at the same time. The gold gamertag's home console give gold benefits to anyone who plays on that console.
At the same time anybody playing on any console with the gold gamertag has gold access as long as that one gold gamertag is signed in, once that person signs out everybody else loses access to gold.

It sounds like your buddy is using your gamertag to play games. Your gamertag can't play games on two consoles at the same time.
