Playing with friend on Xbox Cloud

Hi, Me and my friend both have Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and we want to both play on cloud. Yesterday I was able to invite him to game and it launched it in cloud. Today when I invite him, after clicking notification he is asked to install game from MS Store instead of launching it on cloud. Why it sometimes work, and sometimes does completely something different? Is there any way to do it right every time? Game we are trying to play is Deep Rock Galactic. I have Xbox preview app on Windows 11, and my friend standard Xbox app on Windows 10.

Game Pass for PC. One solution might be to make sure you have the Xbox app installed on your computer, as you may need to open the ms-xbl-multiplayer link. You can download the Xbox app from the Microsoft Store.

Also, try running the game as an administrator and make sure both the Xbox app and the game you are trying to play are up to date. If the problem persists, try resetting the Xbox app and game or uninstalling and reinstalling them.

Also, try installing the console companion app from the Microsoft Store, sign in with your account and confirm that you have the Xbox Game Bar installed and active.

Another thing to check is your computer's firewall settings and make sure it's not blocking the connection, you could also try disabling the VPN if you're using one.

It is also possible that the problem is with the cloud gaming service you are using.

And finally, you could try this:

Start a party on the Xbox app and then start the game, one of the party members must join a session and the pause menu instead of the option to invite friends will change to join the friend's gamertag.

I'm glad to hear that you can now play normally with your friend.

It would be interesting to always leave an Xbox app open, I noticed that many users report this.

Try opening the Xbox Game Bar (Windows+G), Xbox App, or even the XBOX Console Companion app.

This way it should work normally.

We both HAVE xbox app installed and up to date. I cannot run game as administrator, as we are playing on cloud.

No firewall and VPN issues.

We fixed it by joining through Win+G screen. But it's still weird that yesterday everything worked just fine.
