Playing offline with a xbox live profile on xbox 360

I've been playing offline for years and I want to sync my offline account with my xbox live one

A few things need to be clarified. Did you at any time either Delete an existing Xbox LIVE Account or use another console in which the Profile for Xbox LIVE was originally on? The Profile that you are trying to use on your Xbox 360,
is it an Xbox LIVE Profile or maybe an Offline (Local Storage only) Profile that you named after an existing Xbox LIVE Profile?

If it is just an Offline Profile (it will have a Silver "bar" along the top and state "Offline"), it is not an Xbox LIVE Profile. You will need to Recover an Exiting Xbox LIVE Profile or create a new one. For example, the Profile
you are using to Post from these Forums is an Xbox LIVE Profile. If you used the Recover Feature on your Xbox 360 Dashboard with the Email/ Password you Signed in with here, this Profile would then reside on your Xbox 360 Console.

To explain this a little different, I'll use my Profile "LostKauz". If I used an Xbox 360 that was new to myself, it would not have any Profile on it. If I Created an Offline Profile (it would only exist on that Local Storage Device) and called it "LostKauz"
it would not be my Online Xbox LIVE Profile of "LostKauz". It may share the GamerTag Name but that would be it. If I tried to Join Xbox LIVE with that Offline Profile of 'LostKauz" it would ask for an Email and Password, since it is not a real Xbox LIVE Profile.

In order for you to Recover your Xbox LIVE Profile you will need to know the Windows LIVE ID Associated with the Account/ Profile (Email and Password).

Sorry for the issue with the account. What it sounds like is the account was an offline profile on the Xbox 360. When you signed into the Xbox one it created a live profile and now voided the offline profile. Especially if it is the same email on both accounts
then that is for sure what happened. Only way around this is to delete the offline profile off the 360 and download the now live account onto the 360. You may lose all progress that was done on the offline profile, due to it not being activated to live correctly.

does your son already have an 'offline' account on the console? Or is it a completely new xbox live account for your son, which you want to 'place' on the console?

If it is the second situation please follow the steps on this link:

If it is the 1st then you won't be able to merge that new xbox live account and that offline account, the only thing you can do is to 'promote' that offline account to an xbox live account via the steps here (it requires a new MS account):

Yes!!! I'm in the exact same boat, also!!! My son got an XBOX 360. We both created our local (offline) XBOX profiles and started playing offline. I was able to promote my profile to XBOX Live since I am an adult. When I try to promote his profile to XBOX
Live on the console, it tells me that I must create his account on the website. After I did that, I cannot link his local (offline) profile to his newly created XBOX Live profile.

Is there some type of answer where my son doesn't loose all saved game data?
