playing offline "add a guest"

in the past we have not had any issues playing off line. Recently, we have not been able to "add a guest" to play multiplayer/ split screen games. Very frustrating. We are able to add a guest in the system by going to "sign in" and select "add a guest".
The problem occurs when we try to log in with the second controller. Where there used to be an option to "add a guest", there is only has the option to "add new".

thanks guys yeah for sure it shoulda never been released until fall, and now they are releasing Assassin Creed: Victory in fall lmfao but hopefully this Monday update fixes it all up!!

While both users are signed in you have to be at the main menu, have the second player or guest player press the start button and that should load their user and after that you should be good to go to select campaign or versus and so on. If that don't work,
after you already have both users signed in, quit the game and restart the game.

We are able to add a user on the home screen, but when player one is playing the game (minecraft, resident evil, ect) and we press the right key below the glowing home button, the option to "add a guest" is not there. It only shows "add new" and "who are
you". We are playing offline and cannot add a new user with the "add new" selection. This has not been a problem in the past, only since our last upgrade.

It's already automatically offline cause I don't have internet access at my house. What I'm trying to say is the add guest option isn't available offline. How can I connect a 2nd player while being offline?

when i try to add another player to the playlist it says add guest or other account and when i try to do so it doesnt allow me to add another player because they have to have xbox live gold to play , even as a guest.
