Playing new games this can't be the way it's supposed to be.

Have to say I more or less totally agree with you (or at least sypathise with your pain). I recently got Dragon Age Inquisition, and that is fantastic.

But it feels like everything else either totally sucks, or is just really really poorly implemented. There is absolutely no excuse for how s*** the console can be, but unfortunately this market is now more or less run by fanboys who are either happy to excuse
everything that is poor about the system, understand computers to a high degree that they can find ways around problems, or simply have no life so can spend most of it searching the internet for clues to get around things.

Fact is, this console, out of the box, has far too many glaring issues that I acn't actually believe MS are getting away with it. This was supposed to be a 1 stop shop for all the family but it's just a games console for those who love to see realistic water
in their games. Everything else is clearly a burden to MS.

I'm not and have never been a serious gamer.

For me they exist only to have fun, too much complexity is inversely proportional to fun.

My son is in middle school, and I'm nudging 50, and it's winter here, so for me, the xbox is for him,

HALO is for us to play together.

I do like racing games a lot though.

But the kid has more or less taken over as the family gamer.

@ Icy i feel the same way to be honest but i'm happy to stick with last generation till i see the wow factor with my own eyes, at the present i'm still waiting.

 

We eventually got to play.

Played a couple times,

then today, we were about to play again,

and the "Halo needs to be updated"

message showed up again.

Son of a ***, is this thing an over rated piece of ***.

It's been hours. Maybe I've got a slow connection, but ***, they should have had this business sorted before putting this sub-standard piece of crap on the market.

I'm at a point where I hate this thing.

I've spent $320 on the system, $60 on a second controller, and another $150 on games.

And this is what I got for my money.

Microsoft should be ashamed, and should be sending refund checks.

No company that offers this kind of product deserves to stay in business.

Maybe since it's a two system market, they can get away with this, but it really sucks.

 

Welcome to the next gen.... my Halo updated to... plus my COD and Blu ray player.....

I'll admit the console updates for some games on this system are way too big. Not good if you have a download quota. 5.4 gig or something for Saints row Reelected.

 

The xb1's updates are nothing like the competition or cell phones, they are over sized and frequent. It's ok for me and my setup, seriously though Icy, if this isn't good for you then ditch it. It's not going to change any time soon.

 

Red, you are coming acoss that the X1 "updates" daily??? WTF? Games update accordingly so does console..... it is out of our hands, but by no means is it frequent.... I have yet to be hindered by an update....

 

Hey Kingvas, Yeah I get frequent updates for almost all the games, and some may considered big updates depending on their bandwidth. That's where it can be a big problem for people, most of us here are probably ok but I'm sure allot of casual gamers could
have problems. Internet isn't that great everywhere and some countries have limited access.

I don't mind so much, but any update I get on anything else is usually allot less. I am also on the preview program though those updates are usually between 200-300mb

Sorry to hear it took you a while to download everything for the ONE.

It's really frustrating when we're so used to having everything we want immediately.

Now that the install and update is behind you don't dwell on it. Enjoy the game and have some fun.

Check out "Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition" for another game you and the boy can enjoy together. There are some updates but nothing like what you had to put up with for "MCC".

Also check out "Minecraft". That's another fun one to play together as are most of the Lego games.

With "Diablo" you never know, you might just get the wife involved too. It's Mrs Azrael's favourite game.

I'm curious to know if you're using wi-fi or a wired connection? To me wired is best as I get no interference from other sources e.g. micro waves and other wi-fi devices. Interference can also affect DL speed and update speed. Here are some suggestions that
may help.

1) set your console to update automatically.

2) use wired internet if possible.

3) Do your downloads at night and sleep. In the morning it should be good to go.

4) realize that todays games have way more data than 360 games and will take alot longer to DL &

install.

I hope some of these tips help
