Playing new games this can't be the way it's supposed to be.

Please help.

My son and I used to play Halo (several versions) on the xbox 360.

For Christmas I bought him an xbox one, and using it sucks.

Bought him the Halo Master Chief Edition this afternoon, and it announced "an update was needed".

It's been hours since placing the disc in the machine and it's still not playable.

This cannot be the way this thing was intended to work.

With the old xbox (360) you placed the disc in the game and played.

This thing aggravates the hell out of me.

My son is young, I'm old, I'm not sure if he and I are missing something, but so far I wish I hadn't spent my money on this thing.

Barely works the way it's supposed to

Constantly have to unplug my xbox one when it fails, loses sound, freezes.

Cortana can't connect to the Internet and says it's my Internet connection while I'm streaming netflix just fine.

I have 2 xbox ones and both of them have issues. Pay all this money for these they should work correctly.

you can try forwarding the ports that xbox live service uses on your router to see if that makes any difference.

Setup a port forward in your router to allow incoming connections for multiplayer games, VOIP, DVR, and security cameras.

Ok first things first. When you go to install the game make sure you disconnect your Xbox One from the internet. There is a 16 gig patch that was the MP part of the game that is installed initially when connecting to Xbox Live. If you disconnect your
Xbox from Xbox live and install the game first then update then it should go much faster. Hallo MCC is like a 65 + gig game.

 

The update and game install are working against each other and slowing your install down.

How do I disconnect from xbox live?

 

Go into the my games and apps section. Once there select the apps menu from the lefthand side of the screen and scroll to the right until you get to a tab that says Settings. Select Settings and then once there you will see a tab that says Network. Click
on it and select Go Offline from the menu on the left hand side of the screen. Go through the same process to reconnect for update once the game itself has installed.

 

Yank the Ethernet cable or turn off the wifi.

My son says the game is installed, but we are not downloading the "DLC"

(I'll assume down loadable content).

Which is necessary to play the game apparently.

Seems we are stuck at 3% on the download.

 

Probably not stuck could take a couple hours to download 16 gigs if you're Internet is slow

Pathetic system? You want bigger better games? Be prepared for bigger longer updates and dlc, simple as that.

 

It just seems to me, that graphics got good enough ten years ago.

For the hard to perceive improvement in graphics,

the user interface complexity is not worth it.

Seems clear some degree of designed obsolescence, when the new games are only available for the new system.

I started playing "Pong" in the 1970s.

Have enjoyed video games my whole life, but the shear pain in the *** of this system,

has finally got me asking if my gaming days are running out.

 

Even when it is done installing the game is broken, 15 weeks after launch.

They sold us ports of games we never played under the guise of nostalgia.

MS is not only *** the pooch with this console cycle they are letting it move in and make it's fashion decisions.

Every part of XboxOne sucks.

Want to message friends? Wait 4 minutes.

Want to party up? You can't!

Want to play Halo? You can't!

Want to use your XboxOne like you used your 360? Too bad, next gen means quitting the build apparently.

 

Dun pay mind to MACK. He has a slow conn. If you have one then MP is not for you. You should be able to get some games with your boy tho. The UI takes getting used to, but that's bout 5 minutes of your time...having said that...MCC is not for everyone. The
people upset are usually the people losing on MP...has a huge patch tho...will take a while if your speed is slow...GL.
