PLAYING MUSIC WHILST GAMING

I truly enjoyed being able to play my own music whilst gaming after becoming tired of various games soundtracks. I felt it created a breath of fresh air in games when I was able to mentally pin point various parts of to my favourite music. After 2 months
of owning my xbox one I am shocked to find that my xbox one is un-able to perform this function. Clearly not due to performance issues with the console but some guy in a suit in an office (who probably came up with the idea to pre-install IE into every manufactured
PC thus shutting out Firefox and Chrome as internet browsers) thing this was a great idea. I appreciate game designers spend a long time on soundtracks but after hearing them 20-30-100 times, I like to enjoy some music of my choice. Please box, just enable
to coding to integrate it.

How do I play music on my Xbox without using mp3 files on my Xbox while playing a video game?

You can if you have windows 7 or below on a networked computer and share the music files on it. Windows 8 doesnt allow it due to a glitch in that its crap.

 

Games run on one OS. Everything else runs on the other. There is a 3rd to enable the 1st 2 to work together. But alas i probably have just been trolled by the looks of your score. You can snap pandora or any other music app you wish. Just not run it
in the background. Something thing tells me the sun will come up tomorrow and the world will keep turning despite your discontent. May you have the day you deserve.

 

I can snap my media player and play music, but the game music still plays at the same time, I can turn the music on the game down but then I am left with playing on a screen 2/3's the size of the full screen. You have not been trolled, may your day contain
the same amount of pessimism you have for the human race.

 

IE is on every windows product, not every PC. MS putting Firefox or Chrome in the OS will happen when Coke has one Pepsi in every 6 pack.

Anyway, I bet someone on the feedback website has already posted something like this, since no one from MS reads the community forums, you should go there and up vote the request.

Just use a separate radio like I do

 

I truly hope they add this in the future. It's my most wanted feature and has been since the,X1 launched.

 

Buy a Sonos speaker. That way even when you are not gaming you can listen to music through your home/room without having to turn your Xbox and TV on.

 

I have ways to play music without the xbox but that's missing the point totally. Having music on the X1 while gaming would be awesome....Just as it was on the original Xbox and 360. Not having to mess around with seperate pieces of equipment because you
have your music on the console is great and sorely missed.

I've been playing Minecraft over the last few day's with music on a USB stick that's plugged in the X1, the snap feature is just a massive pain in the ***, why the hell you have to keep it on screen and loose a huge amount of picture is mind boggling, I'm
sure someone at ms has the ability to make an update to get rid of it and still have music playing.

*** really isn't asking for much to bring a feature back that appeared on ms previous consoles. Even just the ability to take the snap feature off your screen while still having music playing would make a HUGE difference and make a ton of people happy.

@goat I guess it's not really much to ask for. I'm sure it will turn up eventually. Just look at what was added last year. Sure it will happen.

 

Yeah, I do believe it will happen....Well, at the very least I think they will shrink the snap so you don't have to have it on screen to listen to music. Plenty of people asking for it on the feedback site so hopefully won't be long.

Any idea when they plan on the next update??? Not heard anything for a while.

 

I'm guessing that the first update will begin in Feb. I'd say most that work on it are back at work now.

 

Might start to hear about plans soon then hopefully.
