Playing games with no internet.

Should work fine as long as you put your xbox into "offline mode" in the settings.

Some games,like Destiny for example,are online only though but the majority will work offline

If you go offline you can, but without a connection you will be able to play games on physical media, or games already installed that do not require the internet.

If a game specifically requires an internet connection, then somewhere on the case for it (assuming its a disc) it will say it requires internet to play. If your game is downloaded digitally, you'll have to check on the game's website (if it has one) for
its requirements before hand.

The offline setting lets you play games and use your Xbox without internet connection or being prompted to sign-in to Xbox Live. The stipulation on that is, you have to have the console setup completely and any game needs to most likely be downloaded through
the internet before said consoles or games will work properly. You'll also have to regularly check for updates on the console by taking it home or connecting it to a mobile hotspot with some internet to ensure it stays running properly.

It's only true if you've purchased a new Xbox console. When you purchase content from Xbox LIVE, the content you buy is linked to both your console and your account. However, if you replace your console, the content you bought will only be linked to your
account, and your account needs to be connected to LIVE.

To be able to continue to use your purchased content while you are offline, you will need to do a license transfer. Then, re-download your content again. Once you do this, you will be able to use whatever you purchased while offline again.

As suggested by my colleagues, in order to play on the console in the absence of an internet connection, you will need to set the console to Offline.
