playing game before release date

I have received a pre ordered copy of destiny release date is not for another 2 days am I ok to play this game or do I have to wait? thanks

No. If you choose to do so you run the risk of having your XBL account permanently banned for playing an illegitimate copy of the game. How is it illegitimate you ask? Because you did not pay for it. Telling MS that your boss
said it was okay simply is not a legitimate excuse. The people that did play past titles early had a receipt/shipping document stating that the product was indeed paid for and sold to them early by a retail establishment. In your case it could be considered
theft since you did not pay for it and the current policy, as stated above by two sources, only includes used games and new release titles AFTER the release date.

In the end you have to ask yourself is it worth everything on my account to play this game early? Or should I just wait and play like everyone else? Wouldn't be much fun if you did play it early only to have your account banned the
day of release, would it?

You should be fine as long as you have some proof it's a legit copy. The only concern is third parties reserve the right to ban, So you might want to ask around on the Gearbox Forums just to be safe.

You are fine, Bunjie announced that they are actually turning on the servers on Monday now because people seem to be getting the game early. Destiny servers go live Monday, Sept 8, at 12 noon GMT - VG247

If this disc version. Yes you can played it ahead of relases. If this digital pre order. You have to wait said time on that date to played that game. I hope this helps.

Simply put, if you have received a disc-based game early, you will be fine. It seems to be a growing standard among game developers, because if you receive a game early, you'll likely be too tempted to play it. As it's not your fault, rather the retailer's
fault, you won't be punished for playing. A good rule of thumb is to look at the developer's Twitter page, as that is the kind of question that will commonly pop up on there.

Well you wont be able to play it until Monday anyways since the servers are not up yet.

totally and utterly agree with you temhotabot on that, by the way that is what i meant when i said you face a ban.

It should be fine like the others have said. Most of the time with games that have online components they wont work quite right until the game goes live. So for the full experience of a game i would suggest waiting till it goes live for everyone to experience
it all. Give the solo story a spin until you can play with other gamers when its released

I got an update from one of my friends who actually works at GAMESTOP, sorry for the confusion, but this is actually impossible, you can take out games when they release, but not before release (Unless you obtain a licensed press copy)

It depends. Maybe multiplayer and Achievements might not work well. I'd suggest you to always start playing games from Day 1, even if in most cases there should be no problems.
