Playing disc games

About a week ago, I tried putting in my Borderlands game into my Xbox One console. It wouldn't pull up and it took me about a half hour to get it to play. I don't know what made it finally play. I know I restarted my console multiple times and took the disc
out and inserted it back in every time when it finally let me play. Now it lets me play that game, no problem. But it will not let me play my Resident Evil game. I tried everything I did before with Borderlands and it still won't pop up. I even tried uninstalling
the game from my console and inserting my game again to reinstall it and it will not let me. No, the game is not scratched. I take good care of my games, I keep them in cases when I am not playing them. I checked the game and found no scratches.

Xbox said something about turning off instant on and then holding down the Xbox button on the console for ten seconds and then turning it back on once it was completely shut down. I have never had the instant on setting turned on, so I just turned it off
and then back on the way it said and that did nothing.

Nope sadly you will have to either buy the disc or buy it digitally =/

which resident evil and i know they have been having problems with the games and apps section of the xbox one so that could be an issue too.

It is Resident Evil 6. I don't know if it matters or not, but it isn't the 360 backward compatible version. It is the Xbox One version. I was able to play it before. I didn't start having issues with game discs until last week.

Have you tried other games. I know my disk reader on my day one edition Xbox one started acting up. Might be the reader itself. That's a big part of why i started going to digital games.

Yes, I tried that earlier. All of my games work, except for Resident Evil 6 Resident Evil 7.

Because it was Resident Evil games that were working, I even tried my digitally downloaded Resident Evil games, but they work just fine.

Thats’s happened to a few of my games and even though they looked perfectly clean, I cleaned them anyway and then they worked.

you need to deterime if its the disc or the disc reader in the console, does it happen with other games? just because a disc looks clean doesnt mean it isnt damaged.

The only games it happens to are my Resident Evil 6 and 7 games. All of my other disc games work with no issue.

Are you asking that if you have a disc based game, and play it with the disc in the drive, but then eject the disc, will it still work? The answer to that is no. If it is a disc game, you have to have the disc in to play the game.

The install file is different from the file you download from the marketplace. So in order to have the digital copy, you will have to download the full file from the marketplace.

hi there, i presume you are having this issue with multiple games? this could be the start of a disc drive error, there are a few options available you can head over to https://support.xbox.com/ and follow the steps, if the console is still under warranty
then you may request a repair, if its outside of warranty then you may still be able to request a repair or service but this could involve charges.

there are the usual steps of power cycling the console, obviously trying different discs to ensure that its not just this game, also make sure the console is directly plugged into the wall outlet and not an extension or surge protecter.

an unorthodox method that sometimes works is holding the console at a 45 degree angle, and when inserting the disc wait for the mechanism to grab the disc, hold it a second longer and you will feel the mechanism start to pull the disc harder, let go of the
disc at this stage as sometimes the cradle inside the console doesnt sit correctly and this may lodge the tray back into position, other than that its quite possible you will need to go the repair route.
