Playing Ark: Survival Evolved on PC and Xbox at the same time using family sharing?

Hi,

My husband and I decided to buy Ark: Survival Evolved so that we could play together. We have tried playing split-screen on the Xbox One on a non-dedicated server (with a friend joining in on his Xbox), but the tether is driving us crazy. So we wanted to
look for a way that both of us, plus our friend, could play on a dedicated server and get rid of that horrible tether.

I downloaded the game to my Windows 10 PC using family sharing (without having to buy another copy of the game), and that seemed to work. Now we are trying to play the game together, but it seems like we can only play the game on one device at a time; if
I try to log in with my account on PC, and my husband tries to log in with his account on Xbox, we get the error message "Game in use. You are already playing this game on another device. Close that game to play it here."

Is there any way that we can play together on 2 devices at the same time, without having to buy a second copy of the game? It seems ridiculous to have to buy it twice when we can already play together on split screen.

I am having a similar problem as the above. I was trying to do the same thing the above attempted but I added Game Pass to my son's account. ARK is available on Game Pass. I am still unable to play from the Xbox to the laptop. However, if I delete my account
from the xbox, then I am able to play against him from the laptop since he has game pass. This bothers me that I need to delete my account to enable him to be able to use the game. I am also upset that I have to buy another console for him to be able to play
on a console verses my computer.

Finally, I am thinking of purchasing ARK for him, am I going to face the same problem if he has ARK and I have ARK and we play Console to Computer?

Hi there,

You can do game sharing on the xbox, then use the separate Xbox account on the PC sign in.

However you cant use the same GT on both the console and PC at the same time.

Thank you for posting here on the Xbox forums. unfortunately, as you have figured out, you would not be able to use your husbands account to play the game on PC while that same account is playing it on an Xbox console. This is the same for all

play anywhere titles.

The way you can share the game would be if you owned a second console. There is a feature called

"Home console sharing" that can be set up to share all games/subscriptions that an account holds with all other accounts on the Xbox. You wouldn't have to sign in as your husband, and he would just need to sign in on the other account to play. This way
you can play together without having to buy a second copy. The only downside to this being that you would already need to have your other console.
