Playing a specific game from a disc

I have an original Xbox one. In 2016 I purchased a disc copy of Rise of the Tomb Raider. Until yesterday the game worked just fine. Now whenever I put the disc in, it makes a grinding sound. At first I thought the disc drive failed, so I tried my other disc games. It read and played those games just fine(Grand Theft Auto, CoD, Mortal Kombat..... etc.). So I figured the disc had gone bad and looked into getting a replacement. I got the replacement and tried it. Same result. I would just buy the 20th Anniversary Edition off the store but, I already have the season pass. I bought it separately after I bought the game. I don't want to pay extra for something I already own. Any help would be appreciated.

The games will play from the disc drive. That specific app is just for when you play a movie disc.

There are playset pieces that unlock specific play sets (Incredibles, Monsters, Cars etc...) Each playset is about 6-10 hrs of game play where specific characters play in their specific worlds.

Power discs are tokens that stack on the base and underneath the figure (up to three). There are round discs which are power ups and abilities as well as hex discs that are vehicles, world textures and animals to ride

That means that the disc is only meant for a specific region (country) and cannot be played on a console from a different country.

I have not. Could be a print out on the disc themselves the prevent them specifically from playing. I'm guessing standard DVD's or Blu'Rays play just fine?
