    Play To function does not show video.


    Hey all, so I tried to cast some video (YouTube and local) from my Surface to the Xbox One. It switches apps and plays sound, but no picture. It also kills the picture on the Surface. Just to verify it wasn't my Surface, I tried casting from a different
    laptop as well. Same result; sound but no picture. This is a really neat feature, any idea what the hang up is?

    Interesting... Seems like a pretty basic function to be able to show a video without needing a mirror.

    Play To function does not show video.

    With local video, When you have that type of issue (no picture but sound) means you do not have the correct video codec on your PC - I don't own a surface, so I don't know if you can update codecs on it or not a or if it is a closed system like an apple
    product. Are you able to play the content in windows media player itself? Or do you have the same thing?

    I would suggest giving Sharks007 codec pack a try. Make sure you install both the pack and the addons. I explained it a bit better in this thread (watch out for the bloatware)

    As for the YouTube play to, I am not too sure to be honest, I personally use the native YouTube app.. Someone else might be able to assist there.

    This wasn't it. Turns out I hadn't installed Xbox Video on the One yet. That fixed it. Thanks for the reply though.

    Play to Controls

    Well, when you select a video file for "Play To" it brings up the "Play To" control panel. It shows the play list, the video controls such and skip and play/pause , as well as the seek bar. The seek bar wasn't allowing me any form of control, but that function
    has since been restored. The other one was when I use the video controls for fast forward on the xbox it was indicating it was fast forwarding at 2x speed but it was not. This function has not worked as of yet.

    The Xbox One does have a system video player app - its Xbox Video. In its current state it can play xbox video marketplace content (tv shows & movies) and it can also accept DLNA play-to content as a DLNA receiver from your PC. It currently does *NOT* browse
    network for playback like the 360 does, i hope we see that functionality soon as the apps get improved.
