Play online Xbox one and PC?

When Windows 10 comes out. It's due to come out late this year. Microsoft demonstrated unifying their products on their official Youtube Channel. Linky:

I'm considering getting a new PC with Windows 10 too. I got my HP Pavilion dv6 mid 2011 has Windows 7, 4GB RAM and AMD HD Radeon 6490 and Intel Core i5 1st gen processor, but it can't play The Sims 3 without crashing. I don't like the Windows 8 and 8.1 UI
because it's too boxy and the UI is meant for PC's with touchscreen displays. Many PC's don't have a touchscreen display.

nope.. not at this time and in the future SOME games will be cross platform, not ALL games and you can almost expect FPS (first person shooters) to NOT be on that list and games will also most likely need to be made at MS studios

  6. Unless you spend silly money on them, laptops are never going to be good gaming devices for modern(ish) titles. My Toshiba
Satellite C50D is a decent machine but while it can play games, it can be a pain to find the settings to do so. Great for emulators though.

Windows 8.1 is an improvement over the vanilla version but the metro UI can still annoy. I would recommend getting Classic Shell from
Classic Shell - Start menu and other Windows enhancements which gives you a proper start menu back (either the classic version, the XP style two column version, or the type from Windows 7.) Use the latter and it's hard to notice
the difference between 7 and 8.1.

I'm using 8.1 on my desktop with Classic Shell and it is great. Though if Microsoft do go the route of making DirectX 12 exclusive to Windows 10, that is going to be the obvious choice.

As to the subject of the thread, I don't see cross-platform playing happening except on a limited number of titles. They tried Xbox 360 vs PC with Shadowrun but had to 'nerf' the PC players with keyboard and mouse in order to give the people using a controller
    a fighting chance.

If this was to happen then I expect co-op games more than PvP one.

Play online Xbox one and PC?

Any games already out will not be likely to do so, in the future some games will but that will be up to the developers

Devs will have the choice of allowing cross-platform play when Windows 10 is out, but for some games I don't think it makes sense, as a keyboard/mouse gives you too much of an advantage, particularly when it comes to aiming.

You'll also be able to chat to/message people whether they're on PC or Xbox One, and the PC will get the Game DVR functionality of the Xbox One that'll work with any PC games and those clips can be shared to the user's Xbox Live activity feed.

Competitive shooters will be hard pressed to get their communities to accept it but it is already starting to happen in some other games that have been announced. Zenimax have said you will be able to use a usb keyboard on console to play ESO. They still
have separate console and pc servers though. I would be very surprised if CoD allows cross platform play.

I'd be surprised if COD/BF4/etc. did NOT allow cross-play.

By all means allow users to filter out cross-play via menu/filter but I don't see a problem with console/controller vs. PC/mouse. I use a X360 controller on the PC when I play BF4 - I do fine. Majority of PC/mouse players aren't "all that" (hence controller
choice doesn't make a massive diff generally).

I'm sure at the very top level (pro players) the mouse/keyboard guys would have a massive advantage - but most of the time you don't get matched against them (unless the matchmaking is rubbish).

I'd expect all MS Studio games (including Halo) to allow X-play....and then it depends on how lazy third party devs are. (COD franchise doesn't have a good reputation in terms of making the most of the features that MS/Sony provide).

problem is Sat is a controller is just that. Sure you can get a MLG style controller with mapping but nothing comes close to the aim and accuracy with a gaming mouse and KB. Games like fable are fine as they do not rely on speed accuracy and agility like
    a FPS does.

If the mouse/keyboard combo makes such a difference then explain how I (a medium level player) does fine using a controller when playing PC BF4?

I think for most people (excluding the really top players) the advantage gained by using a mouse is a myth.

I do not know what this mouse is superior over controller.

It depends on the gamer I say there are some so great controller gamers out there that win easy against mouse gamers.

And you can even that out for them or just make a normal controller a requirement tot play against others.

I want a lefty controller, if there is one the way I want it for windows 10 I will switch to that.

But right now it cost too much to buy me a gaming PC that can do what I like.

Any other one would not be worth enough for me to put aside my xbox one.

It would still look like xbox and be xbox ....if I had a whole bunch of money I would try it for sure.
