  1. Play & Charge Kit questions

Hi, I just recently bought a new Play & Charge kit for my xbox 360, and I'm confused about some things and would like to clear it up. Can you only use the battery pack that it came with or can you use the actual battery packs, the kind you can put AA batteries
into with it also? Because on the manual/directions for it, it says do not use the charge cable with the controller unless a rechargeable or AA battery pack is installed in the controller. So that made me think that maybe I could put a regular AA battery pack
in but then after I did that nothing happened, so I looked stuff up about it on the internet and it says that putting a AA battery pack in the controller and plugging in the play & charge cable can damage the controller. Is this true? If so does that mean
that I could've damaged my console or controller? I just don't understand why it would say in the manual to not use anything other than the rechargeable or AA battery pack if AA battery packs don't even work with the charge cable...

    :)

    rechargeable batteries

I don't use rechargeable batteries but I don't believe you can charge them as you play.

I use the official play & charge kit
    www.xbox.com/.../play-and-charge-kit

Had mine since launch & never had an issue & the time between charges is quite long.

The play & charge kits I had for my 360 lasted about 8 years so I expect the xbox one one to be the same.

  4. Play & Charge Kit questions

Do not put regular AA batteries with the play n charge cable. It will most likely blow the batteries this way. You can only use rechargeable batteries that came with the play n charge cable, or other ones from another controller. Do not even use rechargeable
AA batteries with the play n charge kit as they will not charge through it.

You can use AA batteries in the battery pack that comes with controllers most of the time. But you cannot actually use the play n charge cable. Well you can, but it's dangerous. So take the AA batteries out before using the play n charge cable.

Also, you can have the play n charge player plugged in without any batteries, so if you want a wired connection, that'll work for you I believe.

I hope I answered your questions.
