Play Anywhere Activation

Short Question. Didn't found an answer yet.

Can I activate the Xbox Versions of a "Play Anywhere" title (e.g. Forza Horizon 3). ACTIVATE and then Play on the PC (via the Xbox App) WITHOUT owning an Xbox one?

Sorry to hear .it is not an option as of yet still maybe if u want u can return your game to place u bought it from and get a refund and then buy it digitally.

I purchased a disc copy of Halo Wars 2. New and unopened. I was excited to be able to play the game cross platform on my Xbox 1 and Windows 10 PC. Only, to learn after the fact that I can not play Halo Wars 2 on PC due to not buying a digital copy of
the game and using the Play Anywhere ability. Why are consumers limited just for buying the game on disc? Could a 25 digit, one time, activation code be used to prevent the game from being passed around? This is something Microsoft has done for years with
PC games. I do not see why it would not work for Xbox 1 as well..

Maybe it is my fault for not reading more about the Play Anywhere terms of use.

 

You should be able to just buy it directly from the Windows store to avoid using the Xbox app (the game will still be play anywhere, but it'll eliminate any confusion). The short answer is yes, you should be able to do what you're asking though.

 

Ok ty. Just asking, cause It will be cheaper for me If I buy at the retailer. But just saw, that there are also Xbox One / Windows 10 Code of Forza Horizon. But still good to know.

 

Just to get that sure for me. On Gamestar.de and Golem.de I read, that

" Das Play-Anywhere-Programm unterstützt ausschließlich digital erworbene Spiele. Wenn Sie also beispielsweise eine Disc-Version von Forza Horizon 3 für die Xbox One kaufen, können Sie sie nicht am PC spielen."

It says, that "The Play-Anywhere-Programm only supports digital bought Games. If you buy the Disc Version of Forza Horizon 3 for Xbox One for example, you can't play it on PC"

So just to get sure, If i buy the Xbox One Disc Vsion, I can activate and Play it on PC without haveing an Xbox. And gamestar.de and golem.de statet that wrong?

 

No, you need the digital version to play on PC.

The German site is correct.
