Play and Charge not working

My old play and charge kit stopped working so I bought a new one today, that one also didn't work so I got it exchanged as I believed it was faulty, just received my 2nd new kit and that one also isn't working. The controller I'm trying it on is brand new
as well so I can't see it being the controller that's the issue.

Basically, my controller will acknowledge that I've plugged the cable in as it will vibrate and the X will flash, but the light on the cable doesn't show orange or white, it shows no light at all. When I check on the Xbox (in Xbox accessories) it just says
"plugged in", doesn't say that it's charging or anything.

I looked at the troubleshoot article regarding the play and charge kit but nothing seems to work. I've tried other cables, the controller works perfectly fine with AA batteries, the cable is still acknowledged without the battery pack in (as if it was a
wired controller), I've tried all USB connections on the Xbox and all are doing the same, I've checked for controller updates and there isn't any.

I'm using the Xbox One S and the standard black wireless controller. I'm unsure if there's an issue with my USB connections or I've just received 2 faulty kits.

So you mention that the controller works with the USB cable attached. Which means the cable is working.

Have you tried different battery packs as well? Maybe the battery pack is faulty and can't be charged anymore?

I've tried 3 battery packs in total, my old one and 2 new ones. Also tried different Xbox cables as well as different manufacturer cables.

After fiddling around plugging the cable into different USB connections, the light will come on for not even a second before going off and staying off - light shows as orange also.

I can't see the issue being with my controller since it's brand new.

It's probably a problem with those battery power poles, as the control works with other options.

Depending on which plsy and charge kit you have you may hsve to connect directly to the battery if it has a usb port on it

Also sometimes it might indicate that its not charging but charge anyways

it's the Xbox one so it uses the controller micro usb port. I've left it on charge for a while and hasn't increased the charge so it's definitely not charging.

I'm just going to go to a shop tomorrow and get both the controller and battery tested and see what the issue is.

Hey chvrliex,

That is a bummer for sure. There are a couple of things you could try. First would be to take the USB cord and charge and play kit and hook it up to your computer to see if that would charge it (or a phone charger). The second thing I would do is try
it on another XBox (either a friend or see if Gamestop or Best Buy would let you try it there to see if it recognizes and starts charging). That is really odd that you are having this problem and I hope you are able to find an answer for it.
