    Picked up a series s and love it so far. Noticed that xbox ads for the play and charge kit suggest it can charge while on standby but no luck for me so far. Console is set on the quick startup, plugged in the controller to the usb last night and turned
    off the xbox. This morning its not charged, what am I missing?

    Yes the official play and charge kit will work in the Xbox One S controller.

    In short, you can't. Unlike Xbox One or Series X|S controllers, the 360 wireless controllers are always wireless. The Play & Charge kit simply charges the battery, it does not send data.

    The only way to use an 360 wireless controller on a PC is via an Xbox 360 gaming receiver for Windows.

    if you are on about the official play n charge kit then i am using an xbox one version in the series controller, the only difference is obviously the charging cable.

    how can i charge xbox series x controller without XBOX

    use the plug n play charge kit, plug into any usb port for it to charge, done. i bought the series controller for pc, but couldnt get the usb c charging kit, so i got the original xbox one plug n play and use a spare usb c cable i have, works a charm.

    no xbox required.
