    I purchased and Xbox One controller (Microsoft Brand), and I love it. It works wireless with AA batteries. I decided to get this Play and Charge kit (Microsoft brand) instead of rechargeable AA batteries, so I wouldn't be wasting money and such. Seemed
    like a no-brainer. I popped in the battery and plugged in USB to my PC to charge, light turns orange. I try the controller plugged in, and it works great. Finally after several hours, the battery light shows that the controller is charged and I unplug it,
    immediately the light starts flashing as if it were disconnected. No matter what I try, it will not connect wirelessly using the play and charge battery. I saw someone posted this exact same question, and the thread was closed but no answer was given. Is there
    something wrong with my Play and charge kit? I already updated the controller firmware using the accessories app. I restarted my computer. I re-paired the controller with windows bluetooth device manager. It works plugged in with the Play and charge cable,
    it works wireless with AA batteries, but it will not work wireless with the Play and charge battery.

    No, the Play and Charge kit does not convert a wireless controller into a wired one, it simply charges the controller. If you want a wireless controller to work on a Windows PC you will need the Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows.

    Is the controller a wireless controller or wired? If it is wireless, how are you connecting it? If by using the play & charge kit, then the Xbox 360 controller will not work, as the cable is only recognized on PC for charging only. You need to use a Xbox
    360 Wireless adapter for PC to connect a wireless Xbox 360 controller to your PC.

    Wired controller would be the best/easiest option. The wireless and the charge and play kit will only charge through the pc, but there are adapters available like the ones seen here

    Hi,

    In short, you can't. Unlike Xbox One or Series X|S controllers, the 360 wireless controllers are always wireless. The Play & Charge kit simply charges the battery, it does not send data.

    The only way to use an 360 wireless controller on a PC is via an Xbox 360 gaming receiver for Windows.

    Hi,

    The Xbox 360 wireless controller won't work with the play and charge kit on it's own on a PC. The Controller always remains wireless, it can't be changed to a wired controller. To use a 360 wireless controller you'll need an Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver.
    Microsoft no longer make these, but it is possible to buy a third party receiver, although installing them can be troublesome.

    The Play and charge can be used with the PC, but only to charge the controller. The driver is only designed to automatically sync the controller to the Gaming receiver.

    Only the Xbox One controller can be turned into a wired controller with an Xbox One Play and Charge, or a standard USB to Micro USB cable.
