  1. Play and Charge Kit causing feedback in party chat

So I was told this started happening a couple nights ago. When I'm in a party chat on XBL and I have my play and charge kit plugged in on my controller, there is a electrical hum that is being broadcast to the party. I can see this myself with the party
chat overlay, as my mic will always be active. I've tried using different controllers, batteries, USB cables, headsets, and USB ports on my One X. Has anyone had this problem? It makes the play and charge kits kinda useless if I want to play in a group.

    :)

The problem is that with a play & charge kit the reality is it's meant to spend the vast majority of the time unplugged, the low frequency hum is difficult to get past. I know the occasions I have my headset in I'm 95% of the time not plugged in via USB
(I tend to charge it while doing "non-interactive" things like watching a movie!) but I know it does exist and unfortunately don't have any quick fixes beyond recommending what I do.

Try performing a hard reset EXACTLY like this. Hold the power button on the console for 8 seconds or until the power shuts down completely.
Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes.
Plug the power cord back in and restart the console.

    Hi there Mercurial Moose

I know this problem very well, There is not really a fix for it. It's a static feedback noise when the device is plugged in there is ways to get around it if the headset was a SPDIF head set that is the only one I known of that doesn't suffer this type of
    thing. Sorry

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I'll give the reset and controller update a try, and otherwise, just plug the controller in when not in a party chat

    Hello Moose,

Thanks for coming to the forums with your issue. Have you tried adjusting the mic monitoring to see if can clear this up some. As it is electrical it can cause some interference. I usually charge mine with the plug and play overnight so it good all day long.
Have experienced this a couple of times not very often. You can also try updating the controller with the headset and plug and play connected. Go to settings>Kinect and devices>devices and accessories>click the 3 dots> if states no update available click the
box and it will run a test so to speak. This sometimes clears issues up.

    Thanks,

    Brad
