Play and charge battery occasionally says it is dead when it should have a full charge

I had a problem starting this summer with my Play and Charge kit where I would charge the battery for several hours, come back, check the battery level, it would say the battery is full charged, play for a bit, and then within 15 minutes or so, checking
the battery again would say it would be almost dead. If I continued play, it would turn off. If I took the battery out of the controller, wait a few seconds, and replace it, the controller would power back on, and I could continue playing for the rest of
my desired session length (ranging into a couple of hours) without issue.

After much difficulty, I was able to get Microsoft to send me a replacement official rechargeable battery since I was getting sick of dealing with this issue. It appeared to clear up the issue and since it was replaced in I think September (I originally
tried to get the battery replaced in July) I haven't had an issue.

Cut to Black Friday, and there good deals on new controllers from Best Buy. I ordered an Armed Forces camo one online and picked up in the store later in the day after the crowds dissipated. I updated the controller the first thing when I got home, took
the Play and Charge battery out of my original X1 controller and put it into the new Camo one. Since then, I have had the same issue again, and also have had some of the random disconnect issues that it seems a great deal of people on this forum are having,
but I have only seen a few people mention this battery issue with no responses, so I wanted to make sure that the support team is aware. I have also tried to go back to my original X1 controller, and it again does the same thing.

1- Both controllers are up to date with their software.

2- I have used the stock X1 headset, the official stereo adapter with an x360 headset and a turtlebeach x400, and a new turtlebeach xo one headset with their stereo adapter, and no headset adapter at all, all with the same results.

3 - Sometimes after a random disconnect, or a disconnect from idling, the system doesn't respond to inputs even with the controller light on. Fully power cycling the xbox with a 10 sec power button hold brings it back to working order (or unplugging the
    system from the power brick).

4 - Sometimes after a random disconnect, the controller light will flash, not sync with the system and immediately power off.

5 - Sometimes after the battery says its about to die, I can take out the battery and replace it, it will report 50% charge, then 100% charge, then back to 50% charge, then sometimes down to red minimal charge.

6 - Sometimes it will remain on the red minimal charge setting for a very long amount of time, and not disconnect/power down/or interrupt play (leading me to believe that there is a charge present, but an error in reporting it).

7 - Sometimes the controller will power off due to being "dead" (not actually dead, but reporting close to dead with red meter) and when powered back on, even without removal, it'll have 50% charge or whatever level that's supposed to indicate, and again
I can play for some time.

8 - I've also resynced the system using the kinect, the orange button, etc etc. I know it says to not say "I've done everything", but I've really done everything.

SO, the long story short is, with brand new controllers, brand new headsets and adapters, brand new battery, and a fresh charge I'm convinced that its not a hardware issue, it has to be a software issue. I'm not interested in shipping my gear all around because
last time the battery got lost, and I had to be on the phone with MS for hours and dealing with the worst customer service I've ever had to endure (remember, reported in June or July, didn't get a battery til September). Are these known issues? (obviously
the desyncing one is) Are there patches in the works ASAP? I can deal with playing wired or with workarounds if someone lays down some assurances that my money wasn't wasted on this $20 battery for nothing, and on these controllers that are well treated,
never dropped, never soaked/submerged, and never molested in any way, shape, or form.

    :)

Controller saying low battery when unplugged from full charge

Once play and charge charged fully it says low battery when I unplug the cable, but once I take battery out and put back in it has its full charge like it should do. Is this a software issue with the new dashboard?

  3. Play And Charge Battery Failure

    Hi,

I bought a new controller with the play and charge kit on the 17th August and the battery is almost useless! After removing the charge lead (when its showing full charge) it only last 10 mins ma before it says it needs charging again!

It doesnt appear to take much charge as it only charges for around 20 mins before showing full. It has never held much charge from new and I have tried a different charge cable as I have the play and charge kit on another controller (the battery on this one
last a few days and had it since March!)

I bought it from amazon which appears to only give 30 days warranty? Can I get this replaced on warranty?

    Thanks,

    Neil

I AM WITH YOU!! My controllers do the same darned thing. Microsoft got us all with this "rushed to market"; to keep up with PS4 sales, game system. I mean my controllers do everything that you have experienced. EVERYTHING. It's the system man, NOT
    you.

  5. Save yourself a lot of money and buy a 10 or 15 buck Duracell rechargeable battery unit that comes with 4 batteries and use them. I learned the hard way the play and charge kits (on the 360) were junk, the batteries wear out fast and I had the same issue
    with incorrect battery levels.

Xbox Play and Charge kit; does it come with everything?

And if after a full charge I remove the battery from the gamepad, how much the battery should last. (with original Play and charge kit)

    Controller

Hey Bigddy, it should be no problem since the charging doc stops to charge the controller when the battery is full.

Xbox One Play and Charge Kit

with rechargeable batteries it is important to condition them. You should always run a rechargeable battery totally dead when you first get it and then fully charge it right after. A lot of people assume a rechargeable battery is dead from the factory
and then charge it immediately out of the box. This will absolutely kill the life cycle of a battery. From the sounds of it i'd say you need to start over with yours.
