Platinum Achievements

So Sony ripped off achievements with "Trophies" but it brings up the question of people stuffing their "Y-Fronts" with XBox LIVE Arcade Fodder to try and boost their score when they haven't really achieved anything.

Should Microsoft return the favour and rip off Platinum Trophies from the Sonyboys?

Because let's face it. Some achievements are exactly that and others well... aren't.

Should there be something on Microsoft's machine to acknowledge true feats of gaming achievement?

Achievements Sleeping Dogs

When I unlock 50 achievements in Sleeping Dogs, I have not unlock platinum achievements. Why ?

Ok, I thought that all games have platinum achievements.

 

Yea what they already do those achievements are worth more

 

i'd rather they do what they said before the X1 launched and have some achievements automatically record the event that unlocked the achievement. but only some of them, not all, i don't want a recording of me crafting my 100th item in The Division.

 

100th might be an achievement but 10........

 

got it backwards, was thinking about deconstructing 100 items achievement.

 

either way they weren't really achievements which was your point and I agree (i thought it was an exaggeration for comedic effect)

 

I suppose you've got something in a sense with your "Showcase".

If you've done something you think is praiseworthy you can always stuff it there.

I don't have a playstation so I don't know exactly how Platinum trophies work. My buddy just said that besides your regular trophy count you had a platinum count as well.

 

You get a Platinum trophy by unlocking all the other trophies in a game.

I prefer the achievement/gamerscore system myself.

 

I'm a bit odd when it comes to achievements and such; like the normal achievements, but don't care for the ones that pop for watching Netflix and such. Don't really care for bronze trophies either...

 

I do not really care about achievements or trophies. Nice when they unlock but not going to waste time just to get one. Just play how I want. One PS I only have a few platinum with the last being Wolfenstein.

If they made them worth while outside of gamer score maybe. Could have it where certain achievements within the launch window (whatever they decide that to be) earns entries into some contests where things can be won. Maybe a contest for the first 2-3
days where achievements earn chances. I doubt there would be much, outside of something like what I mentions, I would care about. Just because having a score by my gamertag or being on a leaderboard or a list of who unlocked some odd or hard to get achievement
would not interest me. And I know a few who would jump on something like this and spend more $$ so it would be a win for MS and the dev/publisher if they could get something like that in place.

Why would you want true feats of gaming acknowledged Az? You have none.

 

id rather they go away and we go back to the way gaming should be, play the game.
