    Plants versus zombies will not play just get a black screen


    So installed plants v zombies battle for neighborville. Installs ok , loads splash screen, then press a to continue. Does another download and logs onto EA servers then just get a black screen. Nothing happens at all. Have to press home to get back. No
    error messages at all. Tried hard power cycle, uninstalled and reinstalled game, cleared persistent storage , even sent the disk back and got a second disk, same issue. Weirdly, i cannot play sea of thieves either same issue loads splash screen then nothing.
    Microsoft themselves have tried to sort but dont know the answer. Could it be faulty console itself? Bizarrely other games do play ok, like Forza? Any ideas?

    Hi FlambeSheep747,

    If it was just happening in PvZ, then I would have put it down to game bugs but with it happening in SoT as well there may be issues at play here either at software or hardware level.

    It sounds like you have tried most things but I would say try a ‘soft’ reset of console to factory defaults
    . Make sure you choose the Reset and keep my games & apps.

    I have found this
    Troubleshooting a blank TV screen or monitor while your Xbox One is on     support page but none of the choices /options make reference to in game blank screen.

    Hopefully a ‘soft’ factory reset will help, if not the only thing I can think is to wipe it all with full factory reset and see if it happens. That is a last resort measure and hopefully another forum member may have another solution that is far less drastic

    That is so cool!! I only play occasionally with my nephew, but just casual and for fun. we have a great time. We always have a great time playing plant versus zombies
