    Plants v Zombies: Garden Warfare


    I just bought this game for my son and didn't realize that I was paying $15 for a game I needed a Gold membership to play. Is there no way around needing a Gold membership? He has an unpaid Live account. None of us are huge gamers so $10/mo for the membership
    would be wasted.

    Should I return this game and find one that doesn't require online access?

    Plants v Zombies: Garden Warfare

    That is an online only game so there is no way around needing gold for that game. If you can return it, that would probably be your best bet.

    Any online/ multiplayer game will require Xbox Live Gold. You mentioned $10/mo being too much, but buying a 12mo subscription costs approximately $60 or $5/mo, at full price. And oftentimes, you can find deals where 12mo subscriptions are even cheaper.
    However, if you are completely against getting a Gold subscription, then returning the game and getting a new one is probably best. Review the box before purchasing, and it should tell you everything you need to know.
