Plantronics Rig Headphones require resetting up Atmos for Stereo every time it's disconnected

I can't recommend the Plantronics Rig 800s enough. They're wireless, both Xbox/PC compatible, Dolby Atmos certified (including a free license for Atmos Headphones) and have their own wireless USB dongle which is totally lag free as far as my testing has
shown. The newer models switched from a 40mm to 50mm driver as well. The battery on mine lasts forever, I game for a few hours every night and only have to charge it every week and a half.

In that case, try to look for headphones/headsets that have an angled connector, and a long kink protector.

Usually, most headphone connectors point straight out of the controller, and if you rest that on your belly while lying down, the connector gets bent.

If you have an angled connector, the cable gets properly routed out from under the controller.

I don't know how much you're willing to spend, but personally I own a
Plantronics RIG 400HX. It's reasonably priced, and there also is a bundle with a key for the Dolby Atmos for Headphones app. So you can get Atmos spatial 3D sound from any of your headphones (not just the Plantronics headset).

The Rig 400 has such an angled connector, and since Plantronics makes headsets for professional call center users as well, it's made to be worn comfortably for a long time.

I have this headset for almost three years now, and it's still working perfectly.

I mean, you say you bought 5 headsets already. If they were just cheap-o headsets for 10 bucks, you could've bought a "real" headset like the RIG400HX already, and it would have been cheaper.

If you buy cheap, you always buy twice.

There is also the option to connect your headphones via Bluetooth.

I have the Elite controller, and you can NOT connect your headphones via Bluetooth.

Also, the Elite controller has the same 3.5mm audio jack as the other controllers. As the sound is transmitted to the controller digitally, and then turned into an analogue signal, you won't hear a difference.

You'll get the most audio improvements by choosing "Windows Sonic" as an audio format for your headphones, or if you're willing to pay money for the Dolby Atmos for Headphones app, you can also activate Dolby Atmos for your headphones.

But the overall sound quality is mostly dependent on the speakers built into your headphones than the actual audio jack in the controller.

Also to "defend" the headphone jack:

I use a Plantronics RIG 400HX headset. It has a volume slider and mute switch in it's cable, so you can adjust the volume and mute the microphone with the flick of a switch.

And since Plantronics is known for making professional headsets that are used in callcenters and other professional environments, the Plantronics headset is also comfortable to wear for extended periods.
