    Hello all,

What can we do with the expansion connector on xbox controler ?
Where can we found pinout or documentation about this connector ?
I have seen that we can use it for a keyboard or for headset but how it work with xbox console ?
It is another USB connector, or video connector or audio connector ?

    Controller volume problems

    1. Examine the headset, the cord, and the connector for visible defects.
    2. Make sure that no dirt or debris is on the headset connector. To clean the connector, use a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol.
    3. Verify that your Xbox One controller operates correctly, and that you can use the controller to turn on and turn off the console. For help troubleshooting Xbox One controller issues, see Xbox
One Wireless Controller disconnects or can't connect
      .
    4. Firmly insert the Xbox One Chat Headset connector into the expansion port under the directional pad (D-pad) and the right stick on the controller

    Question about AV cable

I would venture a guess that since the Xbox One Headset adapter uses the CTIA spec TRRS pinout they would use the CTIA spec pinout for the 360E AV cable which is the same pinout Apple uses. So Tip-Left Ring-Right Ring-Ground Sleeve-Video

    useless support chat transcript

HI redraptor987. Not all 3.5 headsets work with Xbox one. Depending on the pinout you may have issues with that chat function of the headset. At any rate that is a model that works with the Xbox One, I was just double checking. If the mic works on other
devices like you said, the headset is probably 100% okay.

Now that said, it could still be the controller. The headset jack must make contact with multiple points on the pinout. If for whatever reason it's not connecting to the mic portion of the pinout, or there is a faulty wire from the 3.5mm jack to the Xbox
then it could be your controller.

If you've determined that it's not your controller and you've followed all the

    steps here
I would recommend getting your console repaired following

    controller audio problem

    • Disconnect the headset or unplug the headset cable from the bottom of the controller, and then reconnect it firmly to the controller (in the expansion port for a headset or the 3.5-mm port for a 3.5-mm chat headset).
    • Make sure the headset is not muted. To do this, check the mute button on the headset controls. (For a headset, the mute button is on the left side of the connector that is plugged into the expansion port of the controller. For a 3.5-mm chat headset, the
mute button is a slider button on the front of the audio controls that are in the middle of the headset cable.)

    Headset will not work

    Hi RusselHiester,

Sorry to hear that you are having issues connecting a microphone. Below are a few steps you can take that maye help resolve the issue.

    • Disconnect the headset, and then reconnect it firmly to the controller's expansion port.

    • Note Never pull on the headset cable when removing it from your controller. Remove your headset from your controller by pulling on the body of the headset plug.
    • Make sure the headset is not muted. To do this, check the mute button on the headset controls.
    • Try using a different controller or headset to check for a hardware malfunction.
    • If youre not hearing sound while in Party Chat, but you can hear sound while using in-game chat or another app like Skype.

If none of these steps helped, here a few more that you can try

    1. Examine the headset, the cord, and the connector for visible defects.

    2. Make sure that no dirt or debris is on the headset connector. To clean the connector, use a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol.

    3. Verify that your Xbox One Controller operates correctly. Verify that you can use the controller to turn on and turn off the console.

    4. Firmly insert the Xbox One Chat Headset connector into the expansion port that is under the directional pad (D-pad) and the right stick on the controller.

    I hope this helps.
