Discus and support Ping to ISP not being received? in XBoX on Consoles to solve the problem; I did a tracert to google and then I copied the IP of the second hop.     I did a tracert to google and then I copied the IP of the second hop. Then I pinged the second hop and all the requests timed out. I did around 100 tests and all of them timed out. What do I do?

    Background (only read for extra info): I had lots of ping spikes when playing games and decided to do some research on it. I stumbled across this

    https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/spikes-on-every-game-on-ethernet.3715795/ and then someone said to ping the ISP. So I did and now I am here.

    some hops don't respond if you ping them directly as they are sometimes set to refuse pings.

    To better isolate your concern, we will be asking for few questions:

    1. May we ask for the screenshot/s of the tracert and the error message?
    2. Just to confirm is the second hop you mentioned could be your modem?
    3. May we ask what ISP did you ping (as this is mostly secured) or are you referring to DNS server?
    4. May we asked if you have what will be the result if you do Ipconfig?

    Router Upgrade to Improve Connection

    Your ping is fine. Even 400 miles away you're getting a good connection. Ping itself is going to be a limitation of how you're routed by your ISP so no it can't really be improved.

    I'd assume with your connection and being hardwired on the console that any lag or issues you see are from either drops in your ISP connection to you temporarily or the player you're connected to not having as good of a connection as you.
