Pictures and videos captured on my console are regularly erased

Pictures and videos (mostly) I record while playing are regularly and automatically erased from the internal storage of my Xbox Series X. Almost every week, some of them will disappear from my console for no reason.

As lots of them didn't upload to the Xbox Network (it won't work, even manually --especially with older games like Dark Souls-- but that's not the main issue), I've lost plenty. I can't find any solution anywhere...

I try to quickly upload the captures I make on OneDrive when I can (because it won't work everytime and for every game, some glitch) in order to not to lose them, but I would prefer them not to be systematically erased and lost, without knowing why...

Just a Volunteer

There is only a finite space on the console internal drive to store captures.

To my understanding, if you make a lot of game clips and screenshots that space is quickly used up and any subsequent captures will overwrite the oldest file on the drive if its full. This space is a reserved area in the system area and not the entire drive space.

If you upload your captures to the Xbox Network and/or OneDrive you can safely delete the captures on the internal drive using Manage captures on xbox console.

The alternative is to connect a external drive, formatted to NTFS, and change your capture location to the external drive. Be aware that this option doesn't allow sharing on the Xbox Network.

No sorry, it's not possible. Only the Xbox One and Series X|S can capture pictures and videos directly via the console.

You can use OneDrive. You get 5GB of storage for free.

In the capture settings on the console, you can set it so that captures are automatically uploaded to OneDrive if you like. You can also manually upload multiple captures to OneDrive at once via the Captures app. Also, you can upload an individual capture to OneDrive via the Share menu.

Once uploaded, screenshots will appear in the Pictures\Xbox Screenshots folder inside your OneDrive folder, and videos will appear in Videos\Xbox Game DVR.

There are few workarounds.

1. In your twitter settings, allow twitter to post to Facebook on your behalf and then from your console share your photos or clips on twitter. They'll automatically be posted to Facebook.

2. Share your clips and photos on OneDrive, and then go to onedrive.com and find your clips/photo, get the share URL and share that on Facebook.

3. Or for clips go to a site such as https://xboxclips.com/ and on the top right search for your gamer tag. It will show you all your videos. Share from there to Facebook.

Currently it is stated within the Sharing clips with Upload Studio article the following:

You can only share gameplay clips on Xbox Live, OneDrive, or Twitter at this time.
