Picture size crazy since update

Ever since the last update about a week ago, the image that the Xbox is sending to my tv appears to be cut down to 4:3. My tv, which is either in 16:9 or auto, then stretches the image to fit the screen. This problem is definitely originating with the Xbox
as I have tried it with a different tv and got the same result. So not only am I now loosing information off the sides of the screen, but I either have to put up with a stretched image or watching in 4:3.

The input into the Xbox is from the tv tuner, and the output is through HDMI. Other than the automatic update, I have changed nothing. Help.

Problem when uploading a custom gamerpic

It could just be taking a while to update or the picture might be the right size.

It's also possible it's not been approved to be used as a gamerpic.

I experienced this same thing and thought I was crazy, very noticeable degradation in picture quality on cable since going to the X1S.

 

Go to the settings to make sure that the Xbox is outputting at a higher resolution. On rare occasions, it may not automatically make use of the TV's full resolution.

You mention that the Xbox is behind a TV tuner. Do you mean that it's plugged directly into a TV's HDMI slot, or some kind of TV tuner peripheral that might be for a computer?

It's a Microsoft USB tv tuner specifically for the Xbox. The aerial goes into it and then it gets plugged into the Xbox. The tv is connected to the HDMI output.
