I'm seriously thinking about going all out and getting the play seat and wheel or building a stand. I would like to know how you all have this set up since it

sounds like it takes up a lot of room.

    MS steering wheel

I canceled my pre-orders of the Xbox One and Forza 5 due to the lack of communication regarding Fanatec wheel compatibility. It is ridiculous to me that official Forza wheels will not work with the Xbox One and Forza 5.

Any workaround for not have LB/RB on my MS FF Wheel?

I have the same problems with the new speed wheel. Using the controller isn't an option because it confuses Forza into thinking you have a full-featured wheel setup. The speed wheel is unusable until you restart Forza.

I got the Fanatec Rennsport stand for Forza 4...works great and when I don't want to use it, it folds up and i can put it in the closet or corner of the room, doesn't take up any more room than maybe a small vacuum cleaner.

  5. I used a wheel for FM2, FM3 and FM4. Here was my solution.

    1. Chair. Find a proper chair. I found a nice, leather chair that sits really low to the ground. It was a bit like a higher end game chair and sits about 1 foot off of the floor. I wanted this because it puts my body in the configuration I'd be in if I were
really driving. Any chair will work but I wanted that low seated position with my legs extended forward. The nice thing is, the chair is a good piece of furniture otherwise which can be moved to whatever room I want it in and it doesn't look out of place.

    2. Materials. Go buy an 10 foot long section of 1"x10" pine. It shouldn't cost more than $10. Also, buy an 8 foot long piece of 1"x2". This should cost less than $5. Also, buy drywall screws, if you don't already have some. Last, paint, if you want to paint
    your stand. If not, don't.

    3. Design. I came up with an exceptionally simple design which also happens to be very cheap. You're basically going to cut the 10' piece of 1"x10" pine into 4 pieces. One piece will be the "table top". Two pieces will be the legs and the fourth piece will
be scrap, which we'll actually use to make braces. The lengths depend on you. You may want to make the top about 2 and 1/2 feet long or so but I made mine 3 feet. The two legs will be cut to the same length and should be measured based on how high you sit
in your intended chair and how high you want the wheel to be. I cut mine somewhere close to 2 1/2 feet. I don't recall the specific measurement but it was based on, while sitting in the chair, how high I wanted the wheel to be relative to my body. The scrap
piece will be used to make 4 small braces. You'll simply cut 4 corners off and make 4 small triangles. You'll cut 2 pieces off of the 1"x2" piece of lumber. They will be the "feet" of the stand.

    4. Assembly. What you're going to do, if you haven't figured it out, is line the top edge of the "table top" piece with one of the legs. This will obviously form a 90 degree angle. I laid the table top piece on my bench face down and stood the leg piece
up and down and abutted it against the edge of the table top piece. The leg is standing on it's end in other words and up against the end of the top. From there you'll take a small drill bit, smaller than the drywall screw and drill pilot holes so you don't
crack the wood. Then you of course screw the leg to the top. Repeat this on the other side. Be careful to not break the legs off at this point because it will not be stable. That's where the for triangle shaped braces come in. You'll put two on each end on
the underside of the table top. Just drill pilot holes and screw the braces into place by putting screws in the table top and down into the brace and screws into the side of the legs and into the braces. Once you do this it'll be rock solid. Now you can stand
the table up and, while it'll be solid, it will rock back and forth. This is where the 1"x2" "feet" come in. You'll put the table upside down again and put the 1x2 strip on top of the leg so that it sits flat. You'll want it to overhang 3 or 4 inches on the
front and 3 or 4 inches on the back then, after drilling your pilot holes, screw them into place so that you've made "feet". All this is meant to do is give the table/stand stability so it doesn't rock back and forth.

This design will cost you less than $25 to build and should take less than 45 minutes to make from start to finish. It took me 15 minutes to think of the design and less than 30 minutes to make and I'm not a carpenter. I work in an office. The stand can
easily be moved as it's light and not too large. I leave mine in the garage so the wife is happy.

Or, like Crunchy is suggesting, you could spend hundreds of dollars on a chair/stand in addition to spending hundreds on the wheel itself. $700 or more for a setup excluding the gaming console and the game? Dude, yikes! lol But, to be fair, the OP said he
was thinking about "going all out".

  8. @Harry - I used a good office chair and a Fanatec Wheel Stand for FM4 and Horizon last year. Pretty much the same as you except I purchased the stand instead of building. I got the positioning correct so I was sitting low as you described and the setup worked
great. The only bad part was moving the two pieces (chair & stand) separately and the fact that the chair was pretty big and had to be stored separately from the wheel and stand.

Then, FM5 came out and I decided to upgrade my setup. I bought the TX and used it for a while with my chair/stand. Then I went "all out" and purchased the FM4 Playseat. It's awesome. The wheel and pedals are both mounted to the seat, everything moves as
one unit, it's easy to slide into place in front of the TV and then move back into the living room corner when not in use (our living room is all carpet; if you have hard floors you'll need some kind of cloth/carpet piece to go under your Playseat).

Props to you and the DIY crew - I've seen a bunch of DIY pictures. The setups always look cool and were completed with very little money and some elbow grease (some more than others). For me, the Playseat is where it's at. It actually took a bit of work
to put together (it comes disassembled) but the quality is top notch. The seat is really comfortable. The positioning is perfect. And the best part is that it's adjustable. When I have friends over it's just a couple quick clicks to push the wheel up a bit
higher and the pedals out a bit farther for my taller friends (this is helped by the fact that I purchased the adjustable rails for the Playseat which makes the seat move forward and back just like the seat of a car where you pull up on a lever under the seat
    to adjust).

@OP - Whatever you decide - there is definitely nothing like having a good cockpit setup with a nice wheel for playing Forza. Good luck on your quest to find the right setup!! Picture of your Forza 5 wheel setup :)

That height adjustment on your setup is nice. I'm used to not always being comfortable. I'm 6'4" and have a 6'8" reach/wingspan.
