    Phone verification required for Microsoft Rewards: How do I fix this issue?


    I've been having a repetitive issue whenever I try to redeem anything via Microsoft Rewards. I have previously had a phone number attached to my account, but whenever I try to add it as an alias, it refuses to allow my phone number--the one I already had attached to my account--and doesn't work with no way to resolve this issue so far. Funny thing is, whenever I can't login to my account, I can USE my phone number to get me a code, so why won't this work for adding my phone number as an alias on account.microsoft.com if I can already use it to get codes?

    I have the same issue. I tried using PC/Phone combo to complete the verification and got this result. I tried using phone only and got this result. How can I do the verification via a PC if it requires a mobile authentication to work?!?

    The phone verification is there for your security. Microsoft does not use your phone number for advertising, telemarketing, or anything other than to send you a code before your redemption. This is just to ensure it really is you spending your points and
    not someone who has hacked your account. A hacker wouldn't have access to your phone, so this is why it is the preferred method over email. I hope that helps explain things better and put your mind at ease that your phone number will not be shared or used
    in any other way other than for the security code.

    Also, for help with the Microsoft Rewards program, it's best to contact their customer support via their redemption page. The Xbox Rewards program is not the same.
