    I have a Windows phone...no need for an antivirus.

    Peace, J.R.

    Edit:I have gotten some Trojans from shady roms on the P.C., so the no viruses from games doesn't hold water. It's like there is some truth to the old saying "Nothing is free!". Lol. Not a big deal to get rid of them...but still.

    @Redeye

    The game installs whatever version of DX you need. Jumping into a multiplayer games with friends is actually easier on the PC than either of my consoles and far more reliable because I don't have to worry about issues with Live or PSN just my internet connection.

    This is 2016....some of you are still living in the 90's.

    @D33dles

    If your playing Far Cry Primal on a Xbox does the fact that people are playing that same game with significantly better graphics elsewhere impact your experience? You're in the gaming "rat race" and your choice of hardware puts you near the bottom but if
    your happy with the experience then that's all that matters.

    That's not getting a Trojan from gaming, that's getting a Trojan from downloading something from the internet.

    Buying games on Steam and playing them through their client has never given anyone a virus/Trojan.

    And of course you don't need an AV for a Windows phone.....hackers don't even bother writing them for a phone only 100 people own ;p

  7. @Randver , of course the game installs no matter what DX you're using, I'm referring to performance. I'm also aware that not all games are alike and just like your drivers you use not all games are equal with what they are looking for. In this comes DX,
    what do you think I game off when I'm away from home? If it's not the ps3 it's a laptop, modern laptop that can handle anything providing I know what settings are the best for that game. The only thing that changed in 2016 with pc's is making them more simple
    to operate so we can all have them, like a console Phil Spencer Signals Xbox One Hardware Upgrades! ;) until the game crashes and the sound is ***.

    Maybe you should be on the PC forums enlightening all the PC gamers who aren't as savy as you. I don't care what you are doing on your PC but not having AV on it is plain silly. And yes I'm quite happy at the bottom of the gaming pecking order like most
    of us here. All this topic was about was we would like a shorter console cycle with the same UI/live setup and our old games don't become redundant if you don't buy into an upgraded SKU

  9. Anti-virus software is like a condom. I'd rather have it and not need it, then need it and not have it. Personally I use Avast in gaming mode, I never have to bother with it and it never bothers me.

    While you don't need to upgrade your PC all the time to play the latest games, that upgrade cycle is shorter if you want to continue to get the best experience. Five to six years for PC rather than seven to ten for the consoles.

    Personally I don't buy the the 'research' dislike people have with PCs. Of course you have to research what you are buying but you should be doing that with any purchase, consoles included.

    A lot of modern PC games will pick their optimum settings based on your hardware. I like to tinker however but I have a rather meaty PC and find the automatic stuff tends to be over cautious.

    The problem Microsoft has is that they are trying to break into PC gaming again but are making the same mistake as with Games for Windows Live. They are putting a console mindset onto everything, not realising that isn't what PC gamers want.

    GFWL wasn't terrible by the time Microsoft stopped supporting it but it had such a terrible launch, the Gold subscription was never going to survive, that it's reputation was damaged forever. Pretty much the same situation as with the Xbox One launch, though
    thankfully Phil Spencer is handling that situation far better.

    The Windows Store is very limiting at the moment and one of the big things PC gamers like is the ability to tinker. The Windows Store is so locked down that you can't even turn off Vsync in Rise of the Tomb Raider.

    I've kind of been rambling there. In short console gamers and PC gamers for the most part run on a different mindset. The only thing that is really similar is the desire to play great games.

    This is why I left this forum. It's impossible to have a conversation with people that don't grasp the fact that a "console" and a "PC" are both computers. Open them up and they both have the same parts, the only difference is the operating systems.

    MS (Phil) has said that in the near future you won't need a Xbox One to be part of the Xbox experience. When that day comes you'll have options and rather than learn about those options people here stick their heads in the sand and pretend it won't happen
    or it won't impact them.

    If you follow MS's path you'll be spending more money and getting less (upgrading their hardware) when you don't have to do that. The days of being a couch gamer and it requiring you to use a "console" are over.

    As far as the AV thing goes......viruses don't get on your computer by magic. I don't run them on two of my gaming rigs because those machines never run anything other than games ( no surfing the web) so they are simply bloat.

    But Phil Spencer says a lot things and some are just PR stuffs.....And you already can be part of Xbox experience with Windows 10 on your PC

    He already gave some details about console upgrades and it's more like what Playstation is doing with Playstation TV and VR or Xbox 360 with Kinect and Xbox HDD.....It seems we won't have to buy a new graphic card every 6 months.

    Reminds me of the N64 expansion pack. I bought it too, & it was great for the games that needed it. This one has me interested.

    The n64 has a compartment on the top which opens where you could switch out the ram pack to an upgraded one, think of it as swapping batteries in a controller
