Personal Microsoft account and sons Xbox account linked, How to unlink?

When we got him his Xbox we created his Xbox account with our Microsoft account so they were linked. it worked for ages as he had no need for the Microsoft account and they interfered very little. However now he's older and its becoming more of a pain to keep the accounts linked as we don't want him using our Microsoft and he wants to link his own Xbox account to his own Microsoft account so he's in control of his stuff. Is there any way to do so or is that not possible? If so will this come soon as we cant be the only family to have this problem. We can get rid of his Xbox account as he'll lose all his progress and purchases and we cant get rid of ours as its our main email and has impotent info on it. Please help, Thank you.

Unfortunately that's not possible. The Xbox profile is linked to the Microsoft account per se. Not the email used to create the account.

You can add an alias for your son, but you need to share with him the password. So basically you're going to share the account with them in that way

It sounds like there's some kind of confusion between Skype accounts and Microsoft accounts. Sign in to Skype on the web with to unlink your accounts, and then you can re-launch Skype on Xbox One to link the Skype account you want to the Microsoft account
that you use on your Xbox.

Signing into Skype uses the Microsoft Account of the active user. If your Skype account is already linked to that Microsoft Account, it just uses that, if not you can link it to a Skype account that you have.

So, for a family member that has a Microsoft Account on the console, but has not yet linked it to a Skype account, they should follow the flow to use an existing Skype account or create a new one.

You must use the same account that originally linked your Microsoft account. It is not possible to unlink and link another Microsoft account with your PlayStation account.
