Persistent connection errors behind WRT1900AC router

I have pretty much daily trouble trying to get into XBOX services. I'll try and access something (e.g., netflix, amazon instant video, multiplayer on dragon age), and I get errors, or messages the xbox can't connect to the servers.

I've called XBOX support a ton of times and they have no useful advice. I am pretty sure this is a router issue (many of the issues have sprung up since I got a new router). The router is a WRT1900AC. It is like, the one router without a guide (see below).

Help! I'm so tired of not being able to use my XBOX!

http://forums.xbox.com/xbox_forums/xbox_support/networking-hardware/02-routers/linksys/f/4943.aspx

Some info it suggested to provide:

What Country/State/Province do you live in? United States, Washington, DC

Modem brand & model number: Cisco DPC3008

Router brand & model number: WRT1900AC

How many 360 and One consoles are connected to this router?: 1 (Xbox One)

Wired or wireless (for each console): Wired

Things you have tried: ... everything?

Is UPnP Enabled? Unknown

Do you have a NAT error? If so, what is your NAT type? No

Any Error Codes you encounter: ... lots of them. none have had articles. 0x87dd0017, 0x87dd019 are some of the most recent

Who is your ISP?(Internet Service Provider): Comcast

Internet Conection

I've been having some problems with that internet connection error, too, but honestly, I don't know how I feel about disabling the firewall and/or security features of the router. I hope they release a patch soon that will fix the problem.

Open NAT but still can't connect to other open NATs

Thank you! This is valuable information.
I got my friend to fill out his information too Persistent connection errors behind WRT1900AC router :)

Modem brand & model number: tp-link TD - 8840t

Router brand & model number: Linksys wrt1900ac
Can you ask your friend if their TP-Link TD-8840T is operating in bridge mode.

The TP-Link TD8840T is a combined xDSL modem with router/NAT built-in. So far so good, but since your friend also have an additional router/NAT (Linksys wrt1900ac) which terminates into an existing router/NAT (TP-Link TD-8840T), inbound/outbound traffic will
be NAT'd twice. Multiple levels of NAT in a home environment should be avoided.

Keep us posted!

4. Persistent connection errors behind WRT1900AC router

First try a hard reset, hold down power button for 6-10 seconds, wait a couple minutes then turn the Xbox back on. Second thing I would do is try a direct connection to your modem to make sure its not a problem with your ISP. Third I would try putting your
Xbox into DMZ to rule out port issues (disable UPnP if you have issues while in DMZ as some routers get conflicts between DMZ and UPnP if both are enabled)

1. Hard reset tried, no result.

2. Direct connection to modem tried, works like a charm.

3. Don't know what DMZ means.

6. DMZ as defined by linksys:

The DMZ screen allows one (1) local user to be exposed to the Internet for use of a special-purpose service such as Internet gaming and videoconferencing. DMZ hosting forwards all the ports at the same time to one (1) computer. Port Forwarding is more
secure because it only opens the ports you want to open.

Heres how to setup a DMZ on a linksys, although it may vary slightly for your router

kb.linksys.com/.../GetArticle.aspx

This is dangerous for a PC but little risk for gaming systems, its a good way to see if you have a port issues before going through the hassle of setting up portforwarding.

Here's more info on the subject of portforwarding btw

Status Code 80072746

My Xbox now gets the DNS information from my router, and they're set to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 already.

One thing I noticed is that it says I'm behind NAT in the Xbox Live connection test (but I already enabled UPnP on the router). When I changed the connection to 3G, the 80072746 error is gone, but it still says I'm behind NAT.

Warm Feelings From Microsoft

If your behind a router and trying to download this update, please connect your XBOX 360 directly to the modem (without any sort of router connected) and then try to download this update. I'm also not seeing where you wrote the actual complete error code
your getting.
