Another thing you can do IF the Date of birth when you ORIGINALLY set the account up has reached its 18th birthday.

You can Sign into the parental account at account.microsoft.com/family with the parent account and remove yourself from the family at which point you will be put into your own family as an adult and can make the changes yourself.

You can create a child account, where it needs the parents permission to do buy anything.

If you're son is under 13 then you must monitor him at all times--per the Terms of Service agreement--when he is connected to Xbox LIVE. If you are monitoring him then he cannot buy things without your permission. If your son is over 13 you tell him not
to buy things without permission.

Definitely change settings on their account so they have to ask you permission to buy things. It’s a great feature.
