As others have mentioned, you would’ve needed to secure your account as soon as you noticed it was compromised. You also could’ve submitted a case review on the ban, if eligible at the time.

XBLET investigates each report on an account and takes enforcement seriously. Usually, there has to be quite a serious offence to be banned permanently.

You’re responsible for anything that happens on your account, as the account owner, even in situations like these. The enforcement team have no way of knowing weather it’s you or someone else using the account anyway, with no way to prove it.

Unfortunately, there’s not much you can do in regards to this.

In future, I recommend enabling two-step verification (also known as two-factor authentication or 2FA) on your account, so if anyone does get access to your login credentials, additional verification will be required to sign in.

We’re mostly volunteers here on the forum. We can’t access accounts and can only advise. Neither Xbox Enforcement or support would be able to help with this, especially as the account hasn’t been active in 4 years and with a perma-ban.

Also, If the account has been inactive for this amount of time then it most likely would’ve been deleted anyway. As per the Microsoft account activity policy you need to sign in to your account at least once every 2 years to keep it active (with a few exceptions to this rule). Accounts can’t be recovered once deleted (unless you delete it yourself then you have a 60-day grace period to reopen your account in case you change your mind).

Also keep in mind, your Xbox account is connected to your Microsoft account. So whoever has access to your Xbox account, they also have access to all the other Microsoft products and services where you use your account (Outlook, Skype etc.)

The 2 year sign in policy didn't start until August 2019 so the account would not of been deleted yet.The earliest for that to happen would be Aug 31st 2021.

Are you sure that it was banned?

It could have been suspended for a certain amount of days, and maybe is un suspended by now?

Should of opened an unauthorised access case at the time & also changed the password on the account.

You need to do this & then appeal the suspension within 12 months but as you have left it for so long you are out of luck.

The enforcement team does not use the forums so no one here works for them.
