    Periodic black screen on series x


    Since purchasing the series x, I have been getting a black screen that will appear at random intervals for a short time. The screen will first flash white for less than a second, then flash black for 1 to 2 seconds. It seems to happen more when watching
    shows, but also occurs when playing games as well. At worst it happens every couple of minutes, at best maybe once every thirty minutes. Its worth noting I had the xbox one x on this tv, ran it in 4k hdr and had no issues. I have a roku jvc 4k 60hz tv.

    I have tried using different hdmi cords, and plugging into different ports. I tried plugging into another much older tv and the issue does not to seem to occur.... this tv does not support 4k so definitely want to get this to work and get the most out of
    this new xbox.

    Settings wise I have tried reducing quality to 1080, turning off hdr, changing the color depth, and basically trying every combination of check box is the display settings, nothing seems to have any difference.

    I would appreciate any help... kind of frustrating to have my new xbox hooked up to my 15 year old tv because it doesnt run well with my year old 4k smart tv.

    Series X. I can't even get into the game. As soon as I try and launch a new game from the title screen I get a black screen and the loading icon freezes. So frustrating.

    Was working earlier and updating games.
    What kind of Tv did you have?

    If it's a brand new tv capable of 120hz of refresh rate you have to make some changes on your tv.

    try to go to settings and try by esclusion, set Vrr of and try, 120hz of ecc. (set of 4 2 2 and leave 10bit colour)

    It's a quite known issue, hope MS will fix it asap.

    Yes if it's a disk copy you must use the full series x or the disk galaxy black series x not the digital only one

    I don't know if I'm making a similar post or just responding to the OP. But I am having the same black screens on my Netflix shows. Series x and 2020 LG oled 55". Never had any issue with one X. Anybody find a way to report this?

    Hope you're doing well despite your technology issues. Thank you for including your extensive troubleshooting, you mentioned that when you play UHD blu-rays your screen will go black but the film will still be playing in the background.

    Reporting the problem immediately after the black screen will ensure the diagnostic data that is relevant to the problem is sent to the proper team for them to work on solving the issue. This forum is the best way to get a direct response in the future. However, continue to use the Report a Problem app to send the diagnostics whenever you have issues.

    As for additional troubleshooting, our Troubleshooting a blank TV screen or monitor while your Xbox is on article has a section on troubleshooting screens turning blank after watching a Blu-ray disc. At the bottom of the page there is also "Request a repair," if you are unable to resolve the issue with any of the troubleshooting options on the page.
