Performing Test Automation on Xbox

Hi,

I'm not sure if this is the correct forum for my question, if not please redirect it.

In my company we want to do automation for playing video content from applications like: YouTube / Hulu / Netflix.

Need to automate a flow like:

Login to app >> Goto popular section >> pickup a random movie >> play it for several times >> check cache in/out functionality for our application

I start investigating it and found some directions but seems non of them is good enough:

1. Using SmartGlass 360/One - I thought to use this app to control xbox and use Android platform for making automation tests

The problem with it that it give you to control the xbox but the content will still be displayed on the console itself and not in the android application.

The same if working with this app from pc (using BlueStacks)

2. Using Xbox application over windows10 for streaming from xbox to PC - the problem with it that its not possible to control the xbox screen while streaming

3. Another option can be connecting mouse to xbox device (found some adapters over the net), and once I have mouse click ability to use third part for simulating clicking the screen (like Sikuli which use image recognition or other apps that uses
coordinates)

Is it basically doable to control xbox screen from pc by third part or by code directly?

I found in some forums that is talking about the xbox devkit or using xna, but to me it seems more like a platforms for developing new games not for doing automation.

Please advise what option can be suitable for my needs...

XBox Live Connection crashing, then impossible to reconnect.

After performing another Test XBox Live Connection and passing , I received the Status Code 800705b4 and got disconnected.

Gold Family Membership - No option to add members

Hi, in 99% of cases simply performing the Xbox Live connection test will resolve this issue, if you only just upgraded to the family pack or indeed a Gold membership it can take some hours to update your account. Performing the Xbox Live connection will
do the account update pretty much instantly.

Press the Guide button on your controller (Xbox button in the center of your controller).

Go to Settings, and then select System Settings.

Select Network Settings.

Select your network connection.

Select Test Xbox LIVE Connection.

Is it possible to connect remotely to xbox ?

By team viewer or any other remote connection app?

The XboxOne application (for win10) is not good cause I cant control the mouse,

I want to connect a mouse\keyboard to xbox and connect to it remotey to simulate clicking on the screen.

Hi rac,

I'm a little confused,

When you try to set up a wireless connection, it should give you a message that you have an ethernet cord connected. Your console default uses the wired connection so to run the Wireless test, you'll want to disconnect the ethernet cable before running the
wireless connection test.

Please let us know if I've misunderstood your issue or if you have any further support questions we can assist with.

Thanks for your help. You’ve been the most helpful to date. I have been close to selling my series x in fear there is something wrong with it but they are so hard to come by that it would make me very sad lol. I’ll keep it for now and hope they make improvements to the game.

No, you’re running into bottlenecking from the internet or in general. You’re torture testing the game, you’re doing your FPS test. What you’re doing is the most computationally and in terms of data transfer most complex thing you can possibly do in the game. Basically it tries to guess what you’re going to do next, when it guesses wrong, you get the stutter as it accesses those assets.

I’m not sure of this is an option on console, but your can cache areas on PC. It will HELP

This sort of thing also brings most PC to their knees. This game is designed to continue to break enthusiast hardware for years to come
