Performance of my pc after some time playing games

Hey, recently after I play any somewhat demanding game for a prolonged period of time (depends on the graphics of the game, whether its fullscreen or not, also depends on if I cap my fps), my audio becomes glitched out and distorted as though you had bass-boosted it over the max by 20 times. I have tried so many different "fixes" to it yet none worked, I updated all of my drivers, I reduced the audio format down to 16 bits 48000 Hz (which is the lowest I can get it to), reduced the graphics of the game to its lowest, and none of those have fixed my issue. After my audio becomes glitched out for a few seconds (between 10 and 30 seconds) it transfers over to the performance where I would go from a solid 60 fps to a not-so-solid 15 fps. The weirder thing is that I cannot record it since in the recording neither the audio bug nor the performance bug are recorded (the audio and video are as though I'm still at 60 fps and audio not glitched out). I have tried everything except factory resetting my pc and opening it up and seeing if its a hardware issue. Thank you in advance.

I just remembered more about this bug. It started happening to me, to the best of my recollection, after I connected a controller to my laptop to try playing Genshin Impact using controller. After that it has gradually become worse, the earliest sign of my laptop starting to become worse is when my "1" key on the keyboard, not numpad, started not functioning properly making it so that I must hold that key for several seconds before it registers and a "1" appears on my screen, or in the case of Genshin Impact changing characters to the number 1 slot in the party. This is still a problem, though it appears to have somewhat fixed itself making it so that I only hold it for a maximum of a second, or sometimes work like normal where I only need to press it and it registers.

Thanks for the info, sadly the way HP names their laptop's I wasn't able to find your exact model, would you happen to know the CPU and RAM spec?

My first suggestion is to completely remove your graphics card driver and install again from fresh. The best way to do this is via a free app called DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller). You can get it here

The download is at the bottom of the page on the DDU website. DDU is an extremely popular tried and tested app. There are plenty of guides on Youtube on how to use it. It's straight forward though.

Before you Run DDU, I suggest you download the latest GPU driver from NVIDIA and store it somewhere on your PC. Run DDU to remove your driver, reboot, and the install the driver you downloaded earlier.

Now test your game/s again.

I clean installed Windows 11, and I'm currently downloading the drivers. However, I've noticed that the old windows files are still there, as part of temporary files in storage in settings, is it safe for me to delete them? The temporary files are taking over 75gbs so it would save me a lot of space if I can delete them.

My advice now would be to perhaps do a clean install of Windows 11. That way you can rule out any software problems. Once Windows has completed its installation, go to HP's website and download all drivers designed specifically for your hardware. You can still get the driver for the GTX 1050 from NVIDIA. Windows does an okay job with hardware drivers but they aren't always 100% compatible, often they're older versions.

If you have an external hard drive, you could use it to back up your other PC games from Steam, etc, which is much faster than downloading them again.
