People can not find my username on xbox when they search it

So, essentially, no one can find my xbox username when they search it. If someone looks up my username () nothing shows up. I have looked through my settings and it is all public so it is not that and I know other people have this issue too and they also do not know how to fix it. It makes it very frustrating when trying to play with new people since they can't add me or invite me to a game and I just want this fixed because it has been going on for ages.

I can easily find you in the Console Companion app, but that tag doesn't show elsewhere. If you look at your profile on the Xbox app does it only show that tag or does it show 2 tags?

It only shows that tag, and what is weird is people can find me in the app and gamebar after I have friended them, but not before

To add a friend by username, press the Xbox logo button and press the RB to scroll over to the people tab. Scroll down and select the "Find someone" option. This will allow you to type in and search for individuals
by username. When you find the individual you want to add, click on their profile and select "Add friend".

No, "Username" and "xbox username" are not the same according to Xbox.

Xbox usernames can be up to 12 characters, including spaces. However, usernames cannot begin with a number.

Therefore, "Username" and "xbox username" are two different usernames, since one has a space in the middle and the other does not.

If you're trying to change your Xbox username, but Xbox tells you it's in use, someone may already have that username with a space in the middle.

To check this, you can try searching for the username with a space in the middle in the Xbox player list. If you find a player with that username, then that username is already in use and you will not be able to change your username.

In this case, you will have to choose a different username.
