Pending payment on old paypal account

My Gold sub was due for auto renewal on 18/06, but I didn't realise that the paypal email address was still my old one (since unlinked from the account). In my payments page it is showing the payment as pending. I have gone through my account settings and
removed that paypal account, although my current paypal and credit card were still both on the list.

What happens now? Will the payment automatically be retried after a while, using my updated payment details? or will it just sit as pending and I have to do something to cancel it and then manually re-purchase Gold?

How to Manage your Xbox LIVE payment options

Overview

You can choose to use more than one payment method for your Xbox LIVE account. The payment options include credit cards and PayPal accounts. You can use these payment options to buy items from Xbox LIVE Marketplace.

The 2-year Xbox LIVE Gold Contract uses only credit cards as the payment option. The other payment options like Debit Cards, Prepaid cards and PayPal are not valid for this subscription. However, you can change your payment to another credit card.

If it is before the end of the two years and there is no credit card associated with your account, it is assumed you have terminated the subscription, and you will be charged an Early Termination Fee and any applicable taxes.

It is easy to edit your payment options on your console or at Xbox.com

Steps to Follow

Add or change a payment option using your console

1) Use your Xbox LIVE gamertag to Sign in.

2) Proceed to Settings and then select Account.

3) Select Manage Payment Options, and then choose either of the following:

If you want to add a new credit card, select Add Credit Card.

If you want to use your PayPal account on Xbox LIVE, select Add PayPal. You will be required to enter your PayPal username and password. Follow the instructions to add PayPal as a payment option. You cannot use PayPal as a payment option for the 2 year Xbox LIVE Gold Contract. PayPal is not available in all regions.

4) After making changes to payment options, select Update Payment Option.

Add or Change a payment option on Xbox.com

1) Go to My Account.

2) Select Payments and Billings and click on Manage Payment Options.

3) You may be required to Sign in using your Microsoft account (email and password).

4) Proceed to do either of the following:

If you want to edit a payment option, select Edit.

If you want to add a payment option, you can do either of the following:

Click on Add New Credit Card and enter the credit card information

Click on PAY with PayPal and follow the instructions.

Xbox Music unable to charge Paypal account

Solved. I just replaced the Paypal account with a different one, sucesfully completed the pending payment, then I was able to remove the Paypal payment option and changed it to use my credit card directly for future purchases. It would have been easier if
I could have just replaced the refused Paypal account with my credit card, but at least now it's solved. Thanks for replying anyway, it means a lot.

They should try to charge you again, but sometimes it doesn't automatically see the other payment methods. It might be best to contact support and speak to billing to make sure they use the right payment method before your account gets suspended. 1-800-4my-xbox

Thanks - I didn't realize there was a web chat option for support now - sorted it this morning. I rarely use the consoles, but like the games with gold, so I download a dozen or so games a year for £40. I play them if they keep me interested. Was a PC gamer
for years but have MS and my hands are numb now, so not too good with the keyboard anymore - at least with the consoles it's mainly just thumbs, which still work ok.

But I still did not want that Payment option to remain as "available". The transaction was completed successfully.

Also the "Paypal" site was showing this transaction ID to have the authorization granted to MS for future payments. I understand, that the authorization may not be exercised by Microsoft for auto-renewal - but I should have the option to remove my Paypal
info from the Account - given that there are no pending current or future transactions or liability from my side.
