Peer to Peer xbox live services

I see a post similar to mine that was posted a year ago in the games forum, but there is no answer to the question, so I am guessing maybe the question was posted in the wrong forum.

Naruto ultimate ninja storm 4 is peer to peer... I have been told this by support live chat, and bandai namco directly. I will quote exactly what was said but shouldn't have to go there unless someone argues that a server is involved.

My question is... (1) Why does a xb1 user have to be a gold member to access an online peer to peer game namely naruto ultimate ninja storm 4 when that game has no servers?

(2) Now unless I missed the true definition of services because I'm not doing my homework correctly, could someone please quote what services are needed to play naruto ultimate ninja storm 4 online?

My guess is to sync game data with xbl for achievements... maybe? maybe not? What other services? Is there any services? Bandai Namco say there isn't anything but p2p so I'm confused as to why xb1 says I need a gold membership to access a service which seems
to be a non existing service.

Just buy a gold membership isn't the correct answer to anything I asked so ''bump'' I said that funny joke first...

(Next answer please) I hope to get the answers to question 1&2 either with a quick link to source the information or a simple summary to please my intrest thanks.

Why is Xbox Live throttling the WAN connection in general?

MetallElefant08, peer-to-peer or dedicated server not matter, all network connections has some parameters that critical for game experience, like latency, jitter or bandwidth.

Xbox Live Services always used for multiplayer games, even if connection type is peer-to-peer for clients. To create such connections, Xbox Live provide helper servers and some basic services to do all that multiplayer magic. So if You loose connection to
Xbox Live, You loose connection to friend console too.

Xbox One always is sending low bandwidth traffic at background, like keepalive packets or statistical data. Packets are small and sending is not often, so this can't harm Your connection or game experience.

 

While some games do not have dedicated servers, there are still servers in place, otherwise how would you be matched with other players? They also track your progress in the game.

Most subscribers play multiple types of online games, most of which now have dedicated servers. This is what you're paying for.

 

Also, things like achievements (as you mentioned) and game saves are stored on the Xbox servers.

 

Matchmaking is an excellent example of a service. Thanks for that info.
