Peel Remote App security danger

Hi Guys,

I just saw how easy my Girlfriend was connectect with the Peel Remote App to my Xbox One without tipping any of my Account data! She could tap everthing with it and controll my Xbox just by this App! I tryed to look if I could do anything in the Options
but there was nothing! So every person can take control over my Xbox?! Really?! Just by this app without any registration?

You can do the same with most any universal remote. You also have to be within range of the IR receiver, so it's not as if anyone anywhere can control your Xbox.

If it's that big of a concern, then I'm pretty sure the Xbox One has options to require a password before you can sign into your account.

 

Best to contact Xbox Support (official more professional body than these forums, you could try support forums?) if you think an app on Xbox Store may be suspicious. Otherwise you can uninstall it. You can also change the email address and/or password to
your Microsoft account at any time too. No one can log onto your account without a valid email address and password (unless they're a hacker). And if you log on, on a foreign device, Microsoft usually sends a verification code to your phone and then you have
to enter that in before you're allowed to gain further access to that account. Microsoft did introduce Security Proofs on Xbox 360. It's where you can confirm back up email address or your phone number. It is illegal for people to gain unauthorized access
to your account, as that is a breach in privacy and can be classed as theft. It is also illegal for people to use your property without consent (unlawful possession or something). If someone on XBL did that to someone's account, that is grounds for an immediate
permanent ban. Because Microsoft knows this is illegal.

Some universal remote thingys can be useful if used for good purposes. My phone use to have a Peel Remote App which I pretty much never used. And I uninstalled it ages ago as it tended to be pinned sometimes to my phone notifications or something. If you
have a smartphone, you'll know Samsung and Apple, put a bunch of useless apps on it which you don't really want to use. It's like if you want to hook up a USB keyboard to your console or external HDD. Xbox One doesn't really ask for permission from it, before
it, can use it.

You can log into your account on this website which is the official Xbox website, click on your profile on the top right corner, click Microsoft Account, and I'm sure there are some settings there which you can change, to make it harder for others to log
onto your account. I can control my Xbox with my phone too (using Xbox app or Xbox smartglass).

Technology can work some wonders sometimes. That is why we need rules and laws, to govern our behavior and know right from wrong.

You should really have setup up Code confirmation, If anyone tries to log into my account on xbox, PC, or app. My phone app asks me for approval.

Best way is to have 1 or two backup options.
