PC streaming to XBOX S lags

    Hi everyone,

I am streaming my PC over my XBOX S using "Wireless Display" app.

Both devices are connected to my router via ethernet.

The connection is OK, I can control my pc from my XBOX and see/hear everything there, the issue is in the quality of that connection. Even streaming a YT video is not possible since both the sound and the video get small "cuts" that ruin the experience. By cuts I mean that the video gets frozen and the audio does cut.

I wonder if I can do something about this, such as lowering the quality of the stream? I wouldn't mind having less video quality if that means a smoother visualization, but I haven't found any option that would allow me to do that.

    Thanks in advance!
    Regards,

    :)

PC streaming to XBOX S lags

Hello, HiThisIsDog my name is Oskayra I am the independent advisor and I will be happy to help you today.

The occasional "cuts" or freezes you're experiencing while streaming your PC to your Xbox Series S using the "Wireless Display" app are likely due to network congestion or limitations with the content delivery network (CDN) responsible for delivering the video stream. Remember, streaming your PC to your Xbox Series S will always be dependent on the capabilities of your network and the performance of your PC. If you're looking for the absolute best streaming experience, consider using a dedicated streaming device or connecting your PC directly to your TV using HDMI.

Even though both devices are connected to your router via Ethernet, there could still be factors affecting the overall network bandwidth and stability. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to improve the streaming quality:

Prioritize network traffic: If you have multiple devices connected to your router, consider prioritizing network traffic for your Xbox Series S to ensure it gets the bandwidth it needs for smooth streaming. Some routers allow you to set bandwidth allocation rules or quality of service (QoS) settings.

Update network drivers: Ensure that the network drivers for both your PC and Xbox Series S are up to date. Outdated or corrupted drivers can cause network performance issues.

Reduce streaming resolution: While you haven't found an explicit setting to reduce streaming resolution, there are a few workarounds that might help. You can try:

Lower the resolution of your PC's display: This will reduce the amount of data that needs to be streamed, potentially improving the overall performance.

How do I share the games data across LAN. Xbox One X to Xbox One.

if you want to play on the Xbox you would probably need to install the game(s) on the Xbox in your office.

you might be able to use Network Transfer to copy the data across.

go to Settings > System > Backup & Transfer.

or, if you have a PC or laptop, you could sign in to the Xbox Companion app on the PC, connect to the Xbox and stream the game that way.

it might be possible to play remotely by streaming the game on Mixer and using remote play but that can have a fair bit of lag as it goes through Mixer's servers

How do i play xbox games on a Windows PC? (ANSWER BELOW)

what is the point in streaming to pc if you have an xbox already in the house, makes no sense to get even more input lag, xcloud could be an option but again the input lag on that is pathetic. and streaming does not increase performance it hinders it.

if you own some xbox games that are play anywhere then you can install them on pc and play but your pc must meet the specs.

other than that like i say it's gamepass for pc or buy the games from the various stores like steam, epic, ea, ubisoft etc etc etc.

Anyway to stream xbox to pc via ethernet?

So as long as the Xbox and the PC are connected to the same local network (your house's internet), you can stream the Xbox to your Windows 10 PC.

For the best connection with the LEAST amount of input lag, both the Xbox and PC should ideally be connected to the router via ethernet cable.

Xbox One Summer Update - after updating the game streaming to PC keeps disconnecting

So, I tried a bunch of different things today. I will just list everything I did.

    Xbox App Beta version: 22.23.4005.0

Xbox One Console OS version: 10.0.14393.1065

    Windows 10 PC's version: 1607

    Windows 10 PC's OS Build: 14393.447

-I started streaming to my PC. The Xbox One console was wirelessly connected. The controller was connected with USB to the PC.

-There was no lag for about 2hrs.

-Once the lag started, I kept playing. The lag spikes were about 5min apart. At first going to the dashboard would fix the lag, but after a little while the lag seemed to get more severe. When the lag was more severe, going back to the dashboard didn't seem
like it had that much of an impact on the lag. I also tried to stop streaming, and then start streaming again; this sometimes would fix the lag temporarily. The lag would continue to come back every 5min.

-Once I noticed that the lag was happening consistently every 5min, I disconnected the controller from the PC. I then reconnected it to the console(with a wired USB). The lag was still occurring unfortunately.

-Then I quit out of the game I was playing and restarted it; doing that got rid of the lag. I let the game run for about 1hr 30min. The lag didn't return.

-I then disconnected the controller from the console and reconnected it to the PC with USB. I was able to play for about another hour or so until the lag started happening again. I kept playing for about another 30min.

-Once the lag was consistently happening every 5min, I again disconnected it from the PC and reconnected it to the console(with USB).

-Once again, the lag continued until I restarted the game. When I restarted the game the lag was still happening this time, but it wasn't as severe. Most of the time when I would go to the dashboard, it would fix the lag temporarily. Almost every time I
stopped streaming and restarted streaming, it would fix the lag temporarily. The lag would also happen about every 10min instead of 5min.

-Then I disconnected the controller from the USB(the controller was still connected to the console, but it was now wireless). When the lag was happening, I would try going to the dashboard, but it wasn't stopping the lag. I also tried to restart the streaming,
but that also didn't stop the lag.

-I then reconnected the controller to the console with USB. When I would go back to the dashboard it would sometimes fix the lag. When I would restart the stream it would typically fix the lag. The lag was still always coming back every 10min though.

-Then I restarted the game again. This caused the lag to go away completely. I let the game run for about an hour, and the lag did not return.

-Then I disconnected the controller from the console and reconnected it to the PC with USB again. I was able to play for about 1-2hrs before the lag returned.

So, it seems like having the controller connected to the console(wired with USB) works the best. If there ever is lag I could typically either go to the dashboard or restart streaming the temporarily fix the lag. I could also just restart the game, and fix
the lag completely. The lag was also less severe, and would happen less often(every 10min instead of 5min).

Having the controller wirelessly connected to the console seemed to basically be the same as having the controller connected to the PC. Having the controller connected to the PC had the worst results. The lag was more severe and would happen more often.

I know that there is a new update for the console that came out today, and I am downloading it right now. I don't know if there are any bug fixes or anything like that in the update, but I will play some more tonight. I will post again tonight or tomorrow
morning to say if anything having to do with the lag has improved. I also just noticed that the Xbox App has an update. I will probably download that and test out the normal Xbox App and see if there is any change.
