The mediacenter software is gone and the protocols are gone recycled to currently supported stuff

There is miracast and vlc or DLNA direct Wi-Fi direct which are not difficult to setup it's litterally plug and play on current devices

Especially compared to.media center

Which requires a lot of port openings

Or just getting a currently supported product like xbox one to download vlc

Vlc supports more codecs and formats then media Center will ever will vs media Center you have to use mainstream formats from legitimate websites or mass convert using a program like super @

Why anyone uses.media center nowadays I have no idea given the limitations of console media players

Windows media center stopped being supported with Windows 8. Windows 10 is about to reach end of life.

I've had this happen to me before, you need to reset your Windows Media library. Link on how to below:

Note: This won't delete any media, just the library which points to it. You may have to set up your library's pointers to different drives/folders afterward but that's pretty quick and painless.
