Pc or Scarlet

Depends on your budget. You can't build a high end gaming machine for the same as the now officially named Xbox Series X.

Last december I built a new PC. I Initially used some components from old PC to cut costs such my HDD and graphics card. However, it still cost £700. The CPU alone cost £330.

Since then I've upgraded the graphics card, replaced the PSU and added a 2TB SSD.

I recon my PC has cost me £1,400. The graphics card, an RTX 2080 cost me £650!

It's what ever your preference of gaming is..

Depend where you play and the price you're eventually ok to pay. A PC with the power of the Xbox Series X will be expensive.

It depends on what games you wish to play on your device.

I have both a gaming PC and two Xbox One consoles (the original One, and the One X).

While the PC offers more customization options and VR support, I usually play on the Xbox console, due to the simplicity.

On the Xbox, I turn it on, launch a game, and as soon as a friend notification pops up, I can invite them to a chat party or join their multiplayer session seamlessly.

And with the Xbox One X I get graphics on my 1080p projector that are on par with my gaming PC.

On the PC, I get access to unofficial mods, I can tweak the graphics settings to my liking, and can play a lot of games that aren't available on console. I get keyboard and mouse control if I need it, but usually I play with a controller as well.

However, the main point that keeps me playing on console more: On the PC you have driver issues, hardware-hiccups, and a diverse ecosystem of non-unified chat applications that give me headaches every time I want to play with some PC friends.

On the Xbox, you press a few buttons, and your party is in a game. DONE.

On the PC, you'll have to get Discord, Skype, Teamspeak even though Windows 10 supports Xbox party chat now as well.

Then after you set up the chat, your microphone isn't working, because a sound card driver update broke something. Then you spend time troubleshooting that issue. Or a video card driver now crashes the latest game, because it's not optimized for AMD but
nVidia cards and so on.

So ask yourself:

Unless you want very specific PC games (like real time strategy games, or Virtual Reality), do you want to deal with software/driver and hardware compatibility issues, but can do a lot "under the hood", or do you want a "Turn on and just play" kind of experience?

If you just want to "turn on and game", get a console.

If you want to tinker around A LOT besides gaming, get a PC.

But also keep in mind, that a *good* gaming PC costs two or three times as much as the Xbox console.

Thats a hard choice however a decent gaming pc will cost a lot more than an Xbox Series X.

I am going for the Project Scarlett but I still need a PC too. It is likely I will make the Xbox a priority.

You have 12 months to save up so plenty of time to mull on this decision
