  1. PC not recognizing Xbox Hard Drive

Hi I have a 250 Gig xbox 360 slim hard drive which im wanting to connect to my windows 10 laptop to do a backup. Ive bought a usb to sata and Ide adapter, the hard drive feel like it starts up and the laptop make the pinging noisy like its identifying the
hard drive but its not visible on the PC. It is also not showing in device manager through the control pannel.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No it doesn't. Xbox hard drives are not meant to be read by a PC and the transfer cable is not intended to be used in that manner. If your Xbox isn't recognizing the drive then you will need to return it.

PC not recognizing Xbox Hard Drive

The Xbox 360 has a special partition format that is unreadable without special software.

Your Windows 10 PC (or any other Windows PC), can't "understand" the filesystem structure of the Xbox 360 harddrive.

Also, you don't need to do a backup. You can push your savegames to the Cloud, or use the console to copy it over to external USB drives.

Your Profile is also mainly stored in the cloud, so when the drive breaks, you simply download it from the Xbox Live service.

And finally, the games you have downloaded to the drive, can either be copied to USB devices with the console, or simply re-downloaded for free.

So there really is no need to use your PC to "backup" your Xbox 360 hard drive.

    secondary hard drive

Xbox hard drives are not meant to be seen by a PC. So if you format it on a PC the Xbox will no longer recognize it as an Xbox hard drive.

Try plugging the hard drive into a PC, if that recognizes it, then at least you know it's an issue with the Xbox. If the hard drive doesn't work on PC, then it will be an issue with the drive.

If it's an issue with the Xbox, then try changing the USB socket it is connected to, sometimes that can help it fix the issue. Plug the hard drive in when the Xbox is turned on, then see if the Xbox recognizes it.

If it is the hard drive, then try formatting it on the PC first, then see if you can connect it back to the Xbox and format it on there again, that might get it working. If it doesn't, then you might need to download the official hard drive tools for the
PC from the hard drive manufacturers website, to see if you can repair the drive.

    Xbox 360 transfer cable

Yeah the hard drive is set for the Xbox 360 only and won't be recognized by the PC without a reformat.
