PC Games on External Hard Drive

Discus and support PC Games on External Hard Drive in XBoX on Windows to solve the problem; Hello, So I have a external usb 3 hard drive which have hooked to computer via USB 3 port and can install games via Steam, Epic, etc just fine..     PC Games on External Hard Drive


    Hello,

    So I have a external usb 3 hard drive which have hooked to computer via USB 3 port and can install games via Steam, Epic, etc just fine.. But try to download a game from microsoft dont get passed 0% it immediately within seconds gives me error code: 0x80070490
    . but if I go in and change from downloading to E: GAMES . to C: (Internal drive) it downloads just fine. only thing is now on my internal drive only have 20GB of storage left. So really need to be able to put these on my external drive. I really want to
    play Halo but right now cant since cant get downloaded/installed...

    Note: This happens to each and every game from the Microsoft store...

    Have you used the External hard drive on any other systems? (PC maybe) if so this caused the hard drive to be incompatible with downloading games and you must reformat the external hard drive.

    Not sure what you wanted to do here, could you elaborate?

    As for external hard drives, you can't partition them for use as both external storage for games and for use with your Mac or PC. You can use an external hard drive on the Xbox One as a media drive, though.

    If you format an external hard drive for Xbox One games storage, the whole drive is formatted and the file system is changed.

    Thanks for the reply. I'm sorry to hear that the issue is persistent on the External Hard Drive.

    Have you tried connecting the hard drive to a PC?

    Does the PC recognize the external hard drive?

    Does the external hard drive meet the specifications for the Xbox One?

    If the problem persists, I recommend to try a different external hard drive on the Xbox if possible. One thing we want to make sure, Are the ports on the Xbox One functioning?

    After upgrading to the latest build, my near empty 2.7 tb external storage drive is now 100% full. Why?

    Hard Reset your console by PRESSING AND HOLDING the white logo on console for 10 sec, then unplug external hard drive, take the external hard drive and try to format it on the PC. After the format on the PC, plug back into console and see if you can reformat
    it on console , so it can be used again for games

    Unfortunately, if your child's external hard drive is not being recognized by the console, you will need to format it or format it using the PC or notebook, but by doing so you will lose all the saved games you have on the external hard drive.
