PC Game Pass Games Don't Match Quality of Steam

I am on my third PC Game Pass game where I am wasting my time by using the Game Pass version.

1) I played Subnautica in VR and love the game, but then found out that there were things I needed to do that were literally invisible in the game. There was no way to update the Game Pass install with any fixes. I had to purchase the Steam version to be able to properly play the game.

2) Last weekend I was excited to start playing Stardew Valley with mods. I enabled mods and properly installed the mods that I wanted to use. I ended up wasting the entire weekend trying to get the game to run. They released a broken game that won't run with the more popular mods. It worked fine for Steam users and GOG users got a quick Hot Fix for the same issues I am having. No way to get the Hot Fix for Game Pass. They show no urgency to support Game Pass customers at all.

3) Just installed Crusader Kings III with the intention of running with mods. For some reason there is not a button to enable mods for it.

So, if I want to play Stardew Valley or Crusader Kings III, I would need to purchase the game somewhere else. This defeats the purpose of my paying for two years of Game Pass Ultimate.

I play quite a few Game Pass games on the XBox, and they are OK, even if they tend to be out of of date.

When will PC Game Pass get to the point where it isn't a 3rd tier gaming platform?

Everything you mentioned depends on the game developer. Whether or not you want mods to be activated with the game and as they are mods, they may or may not degrade the game's performance.

I agree that the issues dealing with broken software are definitely developer issues. The way that the games are installed is a Microsoft issue. If the games were simply installed in an accessible location, then we could apply mods and patches on our own, in the same way that we are able to do with Steam and other services.

It seems that the agreements that Microsoft has with developers allows them to treat the Microsoft store less favorably than other popular stores. It makes the Microsoft Store look bad. It definitely lowers the perception of value of the PC Game Pass.

Any game i try on pc games pass like Palworld is not working,

but when i use a different application for games like Steam, the games on steam are working.

so it seems to me to be a pc games pass issue?

I think they will stay the same however I think the quality needs to match the quality of Game Pass titles. Far too often the Games With Gold are lacking IMO.

I don't think it's the dead by daylight filter but an additional xbox/microsoft filter. Friends on other platforms (steam, epic) in the same match don't see the same things censored as I do on the xbox game pass version.
