PC Game Pass Game Files

Currently the game files for games installed via the xbox app (maybe also microsoft store) are protected.

The user is unable to delete, modify or add files to the install location. This is a terrible design choice.

I have just started to play Kingdom Come: Deliverance, but have a performance issue, after looking online the only solution involves creating a config file and placing it in the install location, But this is impossible if you are using the xbox app.

I also had an issue with Gears 5 not recognizing its own files after an update which forced me to have to re download the entire game.

To my knowledge no other game launchers have this dumb restriction.

I would hope that the file protections are removed soon, but doubt they ever will be.

Is there any work around to allow the user full access to the files?

You can provide that section, but it is a part of the security they have added to the system due to the nature of the Game Pass for PC model. It's likely features they've put in place for copy protection and, speculatively, necessary around the subscription
model, to verify that a title is deactivated and not playable without purchase if it leaves the Game Pass service.

Please provide your
feedback to the team on what you'd like to see, and also please note that this is still in Beta on PC, and they are continuing to improve and add to the service on the games and back-end sides of the house. I would be surprised if mod support and deeper
PC configuration settings are not on their list of improvement milestones.

Second thing, game is not installed, only files left...files what I can't get into.

It worked for steam. It really [mod removed] we can do it for game pass as well

The saves would be tied to your friend's account. You'd have to start them over if you want to play on your own account.
